Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) Child Care Services (CCS) provides subsidized childcare assistance to eligible families.
CCS provides child care financial assistance for families eligible for Federal and State Child Care Subsidies. Those eligible for child care assistance include: • Families who are receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy • • • • Families (TANF), • Families who have recently stopped receiving TANF benefits because of earned income • Families with low incomes who need help paying for child care so they can continue to work or attend school • Teen parents who need child care to attend school • Families with low incomes who have children with disabilities, and • Families who meet the definition of experiencing homelessness • If you are a single parent household, you must be currently working and/or in job training or attending an educational program for a minimum of 25 hours or more a week. If you are a two-parent household, you must BOTH be currently working and/or in job training or attending an educational program with each parent maintaining a minimum of 25 hours or more a week. • You meet the income guidelines. • Your child is a U.S. citizen, or legal immigrant, and under the age of 13 years of age or under 19 years of age with a disability.
Families who receive CCS assistance are required to pay a portion of their cost of care, with the exception of those families who are participating in Choices or who are in Choices child care, families who are participating in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) services or who are in SNAP E&T child care, families of a child receiving child care for children experiencing homelessness, and families who have children who are receiving protective services child care unless the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) assesses the parent share of cost. The families’ share of cost will be based on a Sliding Fee Scale based on gross monthly income and family size. State and federal funding allocated by the Texas Workforce Commission to Workforce Solutions Alamo allows you to select a child care provider who will meet your needs and provide the best care available for your children. CCS can offer you a variety of options for child care. Care may be provided by a provider that is licensed or registered through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Child Care Licensing division, or by a relative of the child. Early Head Start Child Care Partnership is a new opportunity to support the partnering of Early Head Start Programs with Child Care Providers to expand the number of quality slots for infants and toddlers in San Antonio.
