NAS is an intensive residential substance abuse treatment program open to pregnant women and mothers of minor children, including those seeking reunification with children in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services custody.
Trauma-informed and gender-specific treatment targets mothers who are struggling with an opioid substance use disorder. Comprehensive case management assists in achieving stable recovery and preservation of the consumer’s family.
Medication-assisted treatment services provided to persons addicted to opioids.
Works to foster de-stigmatization, encourage new clinical treatment strategies, and ensure client rights.
Substance addiction causes problems that are nearly impossible to solve by yourself. Since 2008, the Residential Detoxification Unit has provided a safe portal to end addiction, whatever the substance.
Experienced, compassionate medical, therapeutic and support staff provides integrated care for detox services in a supportive environment. The program introduces/reintroduces drug rehab treatment through use of individualized treatment, education, medical care, assessment and referral.
Detox aims to:
- Help you complete a safe withdrawal from alcohol and drug abuse.
- Encourage you to continue substance abuse treatment.
- Motivate and empower you to develop a healthy recovery lifestyle.
OSAR services provide Outreach, Screening, Assessment, and Referral to individuals seeking substance use treatment and recovery services in communities across Bexar County and the other 27 Region 8 counties.
The Center provides psychiatric and wraparound services for psychosocial rehabilitation, community referrals for medical and substance abuse treatment, peer support and social assistance. Referrals for dual diagnosed clients are received through the Felony and Misdemeanor Drug Courts. This program serves adults ages 18-65.
By rehabilitating non-violent offenders with substance abuse and mental health issues, drug courts reduce costs of confinement while we help people rebuild stable, productive lives. Participants are subjected to rigorous drug testing, probation visits, and 90 to 180 days of residential treatment. To graduate from the program, participants must attain a high school diploma or GED and secure full-time work.
Provides residential shelter at the Haven for Hope campus to meet the specific needs of adults who are experiencing homelessness and have severe mental illness, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
The ARC is a holistic rehabilitation center comprised of religious activities, work therapy, educational classes (spiritual, emotional, financial, life skills, and addiction) as well as recreational therapy. Also work with community resources to assist our participants with any medical needs they may have.
Every potential participant undergoes a comprehensive intake interview to ensure the ARC program is the best possible match for them. If the interview process determines it’s not, we’ll make every effort to refer them to a program that will be.
A long-term commitment of at least six months is required so patterns of poor decision-making can be broken and replaced with positive life choices – changes that will help them become productive citizens of their community.

People experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis can often benefit from a detoxification program and stabilization unit rather than a busy emergency room. Josephine Recovery Center—a 16-bed therapeutic facility open 24/7—offers a safe, effective alternative for Bexar County adults recovering from a behavioral health crisis.
Josephine Recovery Center (JRC) provides a safe environment staffed at all times by psychiatric nurses, skilled crisis therapists, and counselors. If participants are willing to engage in activities and treatment geared toward recovery, JRC can provide an effective alternative to emergency room care.
Comprehensive Continuum of Care for Females (CCC)
CCC offers interim and linkage to support services to pregnant and parenting women diagnosed with substance use disorders (past or present) to help sustain recovery.
CCC offers support from a Recovery Coach throughout the continuum of care (pre, during and post-treatment).
Pregnancy, Parenting Intervention (PPI)
PPI offers a coordinated approach for women with substance use disorders who are pregnant and/or have children under the age of six to ensure continuous access to all needed health, mental health and social services.
PPI offers outreach and linkage to support services through case management and care coordination, harm reduction education and supplies.
In a homelike setting, Alpha Home’s residential substance use treatment facility helps women acquire the safe coping skills needed to lead a life of recovery.
With a gender-specific focus, evidence-based curriculums to improve skills, and counseling support to address all aspects of the difficulties women face in their addiction, Alpha Home offers a treatment philosophy that incorporates its core values of compassion, integrity, respect, and spirituality.

The Behavioral Health Diversion Program provides 24/7 residential support with embedded outpatient treatment services for men with co-occurring disorders in need of post-crisis stabilization or early justice system intervention (diversion).
Crosspoint’s program serves adults with mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. All participants reside at Crosspoint for a period ranging from 60 to 120 days (up to 210 persons served per year).
Mental health services are rendered on-site by Crosspoint licensed clinicians and a part-time contractual psychiatrist. For those residents needing services elsewhere in the community and/or as part of the discharge process, Crosspoint staff facilitates referrals to external providers. When a partner delivers behavioral health care, Case Managers regularly communicate with treatment staff to solve problems, ensure retention in treatment, reduce challenges to completion and eliminate service duplication.
In Crosspoint’s experience, most members of the target population will be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless; therefore our Case Managers help participants secure stable housing that supports a pro-social lifestyle prior to program release.

Clients in need of step-down services can be referred by hospital social workers associated with the Southwest Texas Crisis Collaborative. Those individuals who are criminal justice system involved due to behavioral health issues can be referred by Central Magistration (pretrial) or Specialty Courts.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers some of the same intensity and structure of Residential eating disorder treatment while providing additional opportunities to practice recovery outside of the controlled eating disorder treatment environment during evenings at home or in peer-supported apartment communities.
Unlike many Partial Hospitalization Programs that only offer 6 hours of eating disorder treatment, 5 days per week, our Partial Hospitalization Program offers patients a full day of treatment, 7 days per week.
By offering a full day of adult eating disorder treatment programming every day of the week, patients are supported through all meals and snacks with ample structure and containment to achieve symptom interruption and/or weight restoration.
Programming in our Partial Hospitalization program emphasizes the development of lifelong recovery skills in a safe, structured and supportive environment. Audie L Murphy Memorial VA Hospital (ALMMVH) is part of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and is comprised of a Spinal Cord Injury Center, a Community Living Center, a Domiciliary, and a Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.
ALMMVH provides comprehensive health care that includes acute medical, surgical, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, geriatric, and primary care services.
Specialty services include bone marrow transplantation, open-heart surgery, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography.
As a Level II Research facility, ALMMVH has projects that include aging, cardiac surgery, cancer, diabetes, and HIV.

Recognized as a state leader by the Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI), the Center’s Genesis Program offers outpatient and residential services to chronic offenders with identified mental illness or substance addiction. Those enrolled in the program are mandated by county, state and district courts to receive treatment, which includes:
- intensive case management
- psychosocial rehabilitation (individual and group)
- psychiatric medication management
- co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorder (COPSD)

The Genesis residential program provides 90 days of monitoring and treatment at the Mentally Impaired Offender Facility (MIOF). As a participant prepares for discharge, Genesis provides detailed planning for successful completion of probation and re-entry into the community.

San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), is a structured, therapeutic program that assists in transitioning patients from an acute psychiatric setting to a more independent life in the community. The program is designed to increase and maintain the therapeutic gains individuals have made as patients in the hospital. It may also help prevent the need for future hospitalizations. PHP is tailored to meet each individual’s needs and provides direction and tools that each participant can use in their daily lives.
A psychiatrist will meet with each participant at least once a week, or more often if necessary, to provide medication management, assess health issues, and review progress of the treatment plan. Masters' level therapists and an RN/LVN will lead six groups each day. The curriculum rotates to ensure all participants benefit from a broad range of therapeutic topics.

San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital offers inpatient and partial hospitalization pre-teen and teen mental health programs designed to support young people, ages 9 to 17, who require structured care and monitoring for behavioral conditions or substance abuse.
Our facility provides a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for treatment of teen mental illness. Because our team of adolescent specialists recognize and understand the unique needs of teen patients dealing with emotional and psychological disorders, our youth programs are tailored to the special needs of youth seeking treatment for mental health issues.
A written aftercare plan is developed with the participation of the adolescent and family before release from San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.

Volunteers of America Texas SA LIGHT is a 90-day inpatient residential treatment program serving women and women with children.
Goals of the program for clients include living a substance free lifestyle, improving parenting skills, and reintegrating into society through stable housing and employment.
Client must be a female age 18 or older. Must meet criteria for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) being moderate to severe.
Potential client must have a child under the age of 18. Two children up to the age of 12 may be brought to the program with the client. If potential client has no children, they must be 7 months pregnant or greater.
No fees for program participation.
Grace House is a faith-based residential program to train, support and give hope to women following incarceration, drug and alcohol addiction or those in the midst of perilous lifestyles.
The Grace House setting and training affords an opportunity for women to overcome the addictive and destructive lifestyles that have kept them from becoming productive citizens.
Women only.
Applicants must submit an application, and be interviewed and evaluated to determine their desire and potential for participating in the Grace House program.
