The age requirement for our Head Start Prekindergarten Program is three years old on or before September 1.

Communities In Schools programs surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community’s unique needs, is the basis for our success.

Basic Needs: A student cannot focus in the classroom if he or she is hungry, cold or tired, or cannot see the board. Site coordinators see to it that students' basic needs are met each day.

Enrichment: Our Site coordinators enroll students in a wide variety of after-school and summer programs, field trips and youth conferences to help them gain experience that is essential to meeting college and career goals.

Academic Assistance: Our site coordinators work hard to ensure that students have the resources to progress academically. From providing students with tutors to finding and creating quiet spaces where students can study, we do whatever it takes to create an optimal learning environment for our students.

Life Skills: Through one-on-one workshops, team building, and guest speakers, we work with students to develop social-emotional learning, character education, social skills building, and conflict resolution.

Behavioral Interventions: Many of our students face and overcome difficult obstacles in their lives. However, their survival skills aren’t always effective in the classroom or in the workplace. Our program teaches students positive ways to cope with anger, conflict resolution, and other strategies to keep them focused on school.

Family Engagement: Site coordinators connect families with counselors and social workers to make sure that home is a healthy, nurturing environment where a student can feel safe.

This program is for students at Converse Elementary.

Endeavors provide permanent supportive housing, case management, professional counseling, life skills training, and employment opportunities for chronically homeless women in San Antonio with disabilities and their children to achieve a life full of stability, success, and self-sufficiency in an apartment-style campus.

We provide the following services through Fairweather Family Lodge:

• A safe, healthy, stable, and secure place to live
• Life skills training in parenting, finance, conflict resolution, relationship, problem-solving, leadership, and other social interaction issues
• Assistance in meeting the educational needs of school-age children
• Symptom management
• Case management services

The goals for this program include:

Country Home Learning Center offers a highly successful Excel program that incorporates a truly accelerated environment, degreed or CDA certified teachers and exceptionally small classes. The Country Home Excel Program is accredited by AdvancED and aligned with state standards for public school kindergarten. The MHBC Mother's Day Out program was started in 1979 and provides a well-rounded preschool program for your child in a safe, loving, Christ-centered environment.

Our classes range in age from 4 months to Pre-K. Beginning with our youngest class, we believe that each child is teachable, a sponge waiting to absorb life's truths. Each class curriculum consists of age appropriate preschool skills. Children learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, and shapes.

Our staff members are Christian teachers with a wide range of experience to help your child grow and be challenged.  Christ is the center of our program. Each week we share a Bible story with our children. Our goal is to plant the seeds of God's love in every child that comes through our doors. At Country Home we take great pride in offering a distinctly innovative environment for our children. We do not limit our program to one teaching venue or method, but rather provide a virtual banquet of educational choices. Our wonderful facility affords us the opportunity to leave our classroom each day and explore various themed rooms (specialized areas). Each area provides unique opportunities and equipment for challenging "hands-on" learning and fun exploration into the world of science, math, computers, language development, dramatic and creative arts. Our children spend fun-filled days on the move participating in activities that stimulate their creativity and spur their imagination!!

Since our students have lots of planned activities, we know communication with our parents is important. Age-specific monthly Highlights showcase selected weekly curriculum activities. School-wide monthly newsletters notify parents of special events and other important information. Regularly scheduled parent/teacher conferences focusing on our age-specific Developmental Checklists help recognize and celebrate each child’s accomplishments. Our annual holiday Open House brings school and families together for a very special evening!

Our comprehensive and AdvancED accredited, theme-based Preschool curriculum focuses on providing a solid educational foundation for our young students. We keep our class groups small in order to promote individualized care and education. Our Preschool classrooms in San Antonio and Austin, with a two-story playhouse and multiple learning centers, are carefully designed to provide a secure environment with unlimited educational opportunities and fun!

Country Home’s extremely popular Summer Camp program includes all of our regular activities, our Kids’ Choice Special Interest Clubs, regularly scheduled field trips to swimming, skating, bowling, and movies, as well as special field trips to a wide variety of exciting local destinations. Our highly successful, reward-based Reading Program encourages academic exercises throughout the summer, while our wonderful facility allows us to explore various themed rooms (specialized areas listed below).

Each area encompasses unique opportunities and equipment for challenging "hands-on" learning and fun exploration into the world of science, math, computers, language development, dramatic and creative arts. Our children spend fun-filled days on the move participating in activities that stimulate their creativity and spur their imagination!

We take great pride in offering both a safe and exciting educational environment in an incredible state-of-the-art facility! We know that our Toddlers have newfound mobility and unlimited curiosity. Our Toddler classrooms are carefully designed to provide a secure environment that is rich with new challenges and filled with colorful, age-appropriate toys and equipment for hands-on fun!

Daily communication with our parents is very important for a smooth transition between school and home. Our teachers also make sure to communicate with you regarding your child’s experiences by providing a daily report for each child with all the details you need to know! It includes the basics such as your child’s eating, diapering and sleeping schedule, along with fun and informative details regarding his or her activities for the day.

Our staff utilizes the AdvancED accredited, theme-based Country Home curriculum developed exclusively for this age group and designed to meet your child’s educational needs. We also incorporate an abundance of classroom and facility resources to ensure the advancement of language development, as well as the physical, cognitive and social development of our students. At Country Home, we have low student-to-teacher ratios so we can provide each child with lots of individual attention!

Our youngest students will have many opportunities to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We will gently guide them toward becoming happy and inquisitive learners!

The Practice Learning All Year (PLAY) After School Program provides a safe, fun environment for children to learn, play, and grow under the supervision of Southwest ISD-certified teachers. Children will be able to access:

• Homework Assistance
• Tutoring
• Arts & Crafts
• Outdoor Organized Activities
• Wellness Activities
• Healthy Snack

Grades: Pre-K 4 to 5th grade.

The student must be enrolled and attending face-to-face learning at the school/program site to be eligible to participate. Registration is ongoing throughout the academic school year, but enrollment is limited. 

A copy of one of the following documents is needed:

• Latest Income Tax Return
• Public Assistance Letter or Card (TANF, Medicaid, CHIP, or SSI)

There is a one-time program fee per academic school year based on family size, income, and the number of students per family participating.

The program fee must be paid before a student can participate.

Flexible payment plans are available for those who qualify.

Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children ages birth to five from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Head Start programs provide a learning environment that supports children's growth in the following domains:

• language and literacy;
• cognition and general knowledge;
• physical development and health;
• social and emotional development; and
• approaches to learning.

Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families, which include health, nutrition, social, and other services determined to be necessary by family needs assessments, in addition to education and cognitive development services.

Head Start services are designed to be responsive to each child and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.

Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child's first and most important teacher. Head Start programs build relationships with families that support:

• family well-being and positive parent-child relationships;
• families as learners and lifelong educators;
• family engagement in transitions;
• family connections to peers and community; and
• families as advocates and leaders.

Eligibility requirements:

• Child must be 4-years old on or before September 1 of this year.
• Child may qualify based on the following criteria: Income-based, active duty military, limited English, special learning needs, CPS involvement/foster child
