Counseling is a growth process in which a professional journeys with you as you seek comfort, understanding, and insight. A deepening of self-knowledge through therapy, the exploration of alternatives, and the development and practice of coping skills, all from a Christian perspective, help to facilitate this process.
Counseling services offered include:
- Individual, couples, and family counseling
- Group sessions (for adolescents, singles, and couples)
- Behavioral skills; assertiveness enhancement; communication skills; stress management; leadership training; parenting skills
- Loss and grief counseling
- Pre-marital preparation and counseling
- Life in the older years
Our primary mission is to bring the love and mercy of God to all we meet. We offer hope to those who may be in chaos, by offering them a smile and a listening heart…treating the incarcerated with dignity and loving them so much until they ask why.
Our retreats are both liturgical and sacramental. They conclude with Mass using the Sunday readings along with the opportunity to go to Confession.

Our goal is to provide a safe, friendly, and exciting place where our senior citizens can spend time with other seniors. New friendships have been made, and some old friendships have been renewed.
St. Matthew Parish sponsors various activities during the morning hours. The City of San Antonio, Department of Human Services, Senior Services Division, provides the center members with a nutritious lunch.
Membership is available to any senior who is 60 years of age or older.
Please Note: Our Senior Center cannot care for seniors with special needs. Members of St. Matthew Senior Center need to be able to participate in the activities of the Senior Center without requiring specialized attention to their needs.
Grieving is a very powerful emotional journey that helps you adapt to drastic changes in your life.
Sharing and walking with others who have experienced this type of loss is very helpful and healing.
This group meets In Room 104 of the McDonald Family Center.
