San Antonio Community Resource Directory
Community Bible Church (CBC) (Faith / Christian )

At CBC, we champion every person to be the good news of Jesus in every place. Because we believe in building a kingdom family, celebrating life change, practicing radical generosity, and delivering real hope. We reach, teach, help, and go in Jesus’ name.

While we are one of the largest churches in San Antonio, we're committed to helping you find community right where you're at. We are CBC, and CBC are we!

Our special needs Axcess ministry is built on the belief that Jesus desires a personal relationship with all his children, regardless of their abilities. We have created a program to appropriately accommodate and differentiate student learning.

We have two models in Axcess:

  • Inclusion for all ministries
  • Sensory safe classrooms

Inclusion for all ministries is where members are given a buddy to partner with alongside their peers in various environments around campus.

Sensory-safe classrooms are self-contained and allow for specialized and specific care for those with moderate to severe needs.

Registration is required. For any assistance or further information on our ministry, please feel free to email inquires to [email protected] or call (210) 496-5096, ext 1102.

Free.

CBC wants all of our members and guests to have access to the many large events and small groups offered throughout the week. Axcess works with ministries so that children, youth and adults with special needs can participate at CBC, both through inclusion and specially designed activities.

Axcess
Our special needs ministry is built on the belief that Jesus desires a personal relationship with all his children, regardless of their abilities. We have created a program to appropriately accommodate and differentiate student learning. Inclusion allows us to collaborate with other ministries to plan for small groups, large groups, and individual needs. We desire to partner with parents and staff to develop a plan for each participant in the church setting.

Models in Axcess
We have two models in Axcess.

The first is inclusion for all ministries where members are given a buddy to partner with alongside their peers in various environments around campus.

The second option is our sensory safe classrooms. These rooms are self-contained and allow for specialized and specific care for those with moderate to severe needs.

Transition Bible Study
Axcess also holds a transition bible study (ages 14+) on Sunday mornings at 10AM. This serves our older members who want to develop a better understanding and personal relationship with the body of Christ.

This group is for individuals who are considering to foster or adopt, either locally or internationally, and for families who have been through the adoption process. Our goal is to provide information about adoption funding through the ABBA Fund and The Chosen Marathon, to connect you with others who have used these resources successfully, and encourage you in your personal process of adoption.

The purpose of GriefShare is to equip grieving individuals with the tools and structure to encourage and support them through the grief process. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences.

GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

Let a caring community encourage and support you on your healing journey from mourning to joy. This is an open group that meets during a 13-week semester.

Click here for the GriefShare website.

GriefShare also offers short daily email messages that encourage, inspire, and provide practical information. Click here to register for the emails.

Our GriefShare program is not structured to accommodate those who have not lost a loved one. However, if you have a loved one in a hospice situation, Alzheimer’s facility, nursing home, etc., we will be glad to help you find one-on-one counseling.

If your loss is an infant, we recommend the San Antonio Area Share ministry ( [email protected] ) through University United Methodist Church, 5084 DeZevala Rd. Their contacts are Lauren VandeBerg (210) 250-1600 or Andrea Redel (210) 241-8502.

GriefShare uses a video seminar and a workbook.

  • Please purchase your required workbook from the CBC Bookstore which is open during our group sessions and Worship Services on Saturday & Sunday.
  • It is also open during the week; please call (210) 496-5096 for weekday hours of operation.
  • The workbook is $20 plus tax. We will have books at check-in during the first 3 sessions. After that, the bookstore will be open throughout the semester.
  • Other than purchasing the workbook, there is no additional cost.

Re|engage is for marriages, between one man and one woman, in any and all conditions. Every marriage will benefit, whether couples are struggling to get along, the marriage seems broken, or they simply want to grow closer together relationally.

Attendance without both spouses present is allowed. Separated or divorced couples considering reconciling are welcome to attend re|engage. Re|engage is not designed for seriously dating, engaged, or cohabitating couples.
