APLC Day School began in 1989 as a two-day a week Mother's Day Out Program. Gradually in the next couple of years, we added new classes and formally changed our name to Abiding Presence Day School.  We have grown from a two day program serving 25 children to a four day a week program serving up to 80 children. In 1994, we achieved accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which includes standards of excellence in curriculum, staff-child interactions, parent participation, physical environment, staff qualifications and health and safety.

APLC Day School is one of ten ministries of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt preschool with a Day School Board comprised of parents both church members and non-members. Parent participation is extremely important to the success of our program. We have two fundraisers a year which rely on parent volunteers for their success.

APLC Day School does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin with regard to hiring, admissions, administration of its educational policies, or its scholarship program. APLC Day School is willing to work with families of children with special learning and/or physical needs.

Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry in participating congregations. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers called Stephen Ministers - to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to the hurting.

Male and female Stephen Ministers are paired with male and female Care Receivers. Confidentiality is key to the ministry. Stephen Ministers receive support through supervision, continuing education, and coaching monthly.

Stephen's Ministry is open to the public; church membership is not required.
