San Antonio Community Resource Directory

We are the Good Samaritan Center (GSC), a charitable medical, dental and mental-health clinic meeting critical health needs for Gillespie County and some of our surrounding area through direct care and community partnerships.

Our mission is to provide a safe, Christ-centered environment that gives our patients quality, coordinated,
and affordable health care.  All are welcome.

GSC provides a safety net for the uninsured working poor. Our services and programs help keep employees at work and students in school. Improving the quality of life for our patients through coordinated care, disease prevention and health/wellness information and promotion is why we are here.

We know a healthy population is a vital element in a dynamic community like ours.

Are you uninsured in need of Dental care?

The Good Samaritan Center may be able to help you.

Each year, GSC fulfills nearly 1,400 Dental appointments

We alleviate pain and help patients save their teeth.

Services offered at the GSC dental clinic include fillings and routine extractions.  We also provide cleanings and advice on good dental hygiene practices to prevent future problems.

Unlike the medical clinic portion of GSC, we can schedule qualified low-income patients who receive some medical insurance but have no dental insurance coverage. If you have a question about your eligibility for a dental appointment, call the Center and schedule a consultation.

We render service to members of our community who are uninsured and are earning less than 250% of the federal poverty level (for example, a household of four that earns less than $69,375 per year). We meet critical health needs for:

  • Blanco Co.
  • Gillespie Co.
  • Kimble Co.
  • Mason Co.
  • and the towns of Comfort and Brady.

If you want to know if you qualify for our services, or if you want to set up an eligibility appointment, please call us at 830-990-8651.

Volunteer

At GSC we are a volunteer-based organization.
While we have 7 full-time and 6 part-time paid staff members, GSC has more than 90 volunteers working with us every month. We simply could not exist to help others without the devoted service of our dedicated volunteers.

We have a range of service areas available for our volunteers.

If you think you might like to work with us to help our neighbors in need, take a look at our volunteer opportunities:

  • FRONT DESK: No medical experience required.
  • DENTAL CLINIC - Dentist/Dental hygienist
  • MEDICATION ROOM: Medical experience preferred and good attention to detail required.
  • OFFICE: No medical experience required. Computer ability a plus.
  • LANDSCAPING: If you like to garden, then consider joining our volunteer landscaping team to help maintain our native gardens with once-a-month work sessions. Tools are supplied and no medical experience required.

For more information about volunteering or to schedule a tour of the clinic, contact our Volunteer Director, Amelia Arizola at (830) 990-8651.

Donate

Donations are a vital to our ability to be here for our neighbors. Patient fees and rental income from office spaces from our building contribute 20% of our budget. The remaining 80% comes from private foundations and donations from caring individuals like you.

Are you uninsured in need of medical care?

The Good Samaritan Center may be able to help you.

We treat a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. Through our partnerships with area doctors and treatment centers, we afford our patients access to specialists and complicated procedures that would be otherwise unobtainable.

By encouraging patients to come to GSC, we are reducing congestion at our local hospital's ER, a real win-win situation since ER visits are an expensive prospect for everyone.

Our award-winning Medication Assistance Program (MAP) supplies prescription drugs at an affordable cost to patients who cannot afford to pay for their needed long-term medications.

We render service to members of our community who are uninsured and are earning less than 250% of the federal poverty level (for example, a household of four that earns less than $69,375 per year). We meet critical health needs for:

  • Blanco Co.

At GSC medical appointments cost between $20 and $40 on a sliding scale.
