San Antonio Community Resource Directory

Welcome to St Mary's Parish!

St Mary's Church began with a handful of German immigrants in 1846 and, since then, has been a continually growing spiritual family. Learn more about our history here.

Today St. Mary's has a family population of close to 1,800 or about 4,300 people and is part of the San Antonio Archdiocese. Many of our parishioners are descendants of original members.

We would love to have you as a parishioner and encourage you to get involved with one or more of our ministries or organizations. Click here to download our registration form, or click here to get involved and help us with the Lord's work.

Grief-Share is a Thirteen Week program used by numerous parishes nationwide. It consists of 13 sessions with an interactive workbook and videos that are led by various experts in the fields of psychology and ministry along with those who have gone through the bereavement process.

Grief Share keys in on the various realities one may face and provides coping tools that help with emotional and practical realities with the use of practical analogies to assist participants who may be grieving.

Some tools assist those who may be living alone or may have moved in with other family members. These tools are of immediate use. This program also addresses concerns such as regret, the sense of loneliness, guilt, anger, and the various traumas associated with the loss of a loved one.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter emphasizes communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend together away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life to concentrate on each other. Its mission of renewal in the Church and change in the world is to assist couples and priests in living fully intimate and responsible relationships by providing them with a Catholic "experience" and ongoing community support for such a lifestyle.

The Marriage Encounter Community (also called Love Circle, circle, board, etc.) is a monthly gathering that supports couples who have made a Marriage Encounter Weekend by encouraging their Sacramental Unions with prayer, presentation, dialogue, and sharing of feelings. The presentation deals with some aspects of the marital relationship. The community supports the Church by furthering another ministry within the parish and the local area of Marriage Encounter by promoting and assisting with the weekend.

Marriage Encounter is not a retreat, a marriage clinic, or group sensitivity. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage.
