Adult Counseling

In counseling, our focus is to resolve the issues that bring you to counseling and to help you establish or re-establish your life most healthily. The first step is to work on identifying the goals you seek to accomplish. Then, our counseling acts to help you release the forces of positive growth forces already present within you. With dedication, you can fulfill your goals grow beyond negative patterns from the past, and be empowered to move forward with freedom in your life. Our therapists are trained to help you resolve all life, college, career, family, and relationship difficulties or transitions.

Couples Counseling

Everyone knows that having good communication is vital to your relationship. Since statistics show that over 60 percent of marriages end in divorce, one reason may be that many couples don’t seek relationship counseling until it’s too late. Most of us realize that getting rid of our partner does not get rid of the problems because half of the problem is ours. You can walk out of your relationship/marriage, but you can’t run away from yourself - no matter how hard you try. One of the biggest challenges for most couples is learning how to stop blaming each other so they can work through the troubled times without the power struggles. Couples counseling offers a haven for partners to express their needs, and fears and effectively resolve anger and conflict.

Teen Counseling

With puberty, teens experience major physical and emotional changes that alter relationships and patterns of interaction with others. Their brains are changing with an explosion and expulsion of neurons which affect a teen's judgment, communication, empathy, emotional stability, and perception of social cues. They transition toward independence from their parents and need to establish their values, and personal and sexual identity, as well as gain the skills and competencies needed to be successful in adulthood. Adapting to all of these changes in relationships, social contexts, status, and performance criteria can generate tremendous stress, feelings of rejection, and anger at perceived or real failure. Sometimes teens need extra support in addition to a good relationship with their parents to help them successfully transition.

Children Counseling

Children are not small adults and do not respond to their emotions and thoughts in the same way an adult may. Developmentally, children are very concrete in the way they see situations as either black or white, good or bad, and right or wrong. It can be very confusing as a parent to try to understand the unique challenges your children may face. Children will act out when their needs are not being met and they don’t have the words or concepts to describe how they are feeling. There may be a need for your child to develop coping strategies, to be successful at school, and prevent small problems from becoming larger ones in the future.
