"Keeping families together while getting medical treatment"
Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military and veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital.
We provide "a home away from home" for military, veterans, & their families during a medical crisis. A Fisher House is a temporary residence and is not a treatment facility, hospice, or counseling center.
These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. Each Fisher House is between 7 and 21 suites and can accommodate 16 to 42 family members. They feature a spacious common kitchen, laundry facilities, spacious dining room and a living room with a library and toys for children.
Newer houses are 100% wheelchair accessible and include elevators. Fisher Houses are set up to encourage a sense of community while giving private respite to tired families.
This network of comfort homes was created to provide a sense of normalcy during medical crisis and it all started with just… one.
If you or someone you love is receiving care at a VA or military medical center, check the list of Current Houses to see if there is a Fisher House that can help. Criteria to stay is established locally by the hospital or installation command so please contact the location with any questions.
