Blessings in a Backpack provides schoolchildren in Boerne with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. 

Blessings in a Backpack serves all thirteen schools in the Boerne Independent School District, with eligible students from Pre-K through Grade 12 receiving a bag of food each weekend that school is in session.

The program provides food for breakfast and lunch and three snacks a day. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat items such as tuna, peanut butter, mac & cheese, oatmeal, granola bars, and shelf-stable milk and fresh fruit.

Grades: Pre-K - 12th. 

Student must be enrolled in the Boerne ISD.

Our Mother's Day Out program is an important ministry for Bulverde Baptist Church. The main goal is to offer a Christian environment and a safe place for children to learn, socialize and play. It is available for children twelve months to pre-K age.

Our Summer Meals For Kids campaign aims to fill the summer meal gap by providing no-cost nutritious meals, groceries, and snacks for children over the summer. When kids eat great, they can play great!

Kids 18 and under are eligible to access no-cost summer meals from any of the Summer Meal sites.

Children do not need to be enrolled in a specific San Antonio Food Bank program to receive a meal.

Grades 3-5:

Girls on the Run inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths, while building a sense of connection in a team setting.  At the end of the season, the team completes a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

As San Antonio and its suburbs continue to grow and expand (along the IH10 corridor and beyond), we are excited about a new opportunity to create another point of light and outreach in the greater San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. Chabad of Boerne was established in July 2022.

The love for dance is powerful and magical. Not only does it allow you to express emotions, but it also offers an opportunity to develop self-confidence and make a difference in the lives of others. 

Dance Fairies was inspired by passion and love for dance and recognition that not all children have access to beautiful dance costumes and proper dance shoes to allow them to follow their dreams.

Every child believes in magic, and dancing is the closest thing to magic. Putting a smile on the face of a little girl and watching her swirl in that tutu makes you feel like a fairy. With that in mind, in June of 2018, the idea of Dance Fairies was born.

Head Start provides family-centered services for low-income families with very young children. These programs are designed to promote the development of the children and to enable their parents to fulfill their roles as parents and to move toward self-sufficiency.

Connecting students in need to gardening for lifelong transformation.

Deep Roots is a multi-faceted program that combines outdoor learning, service, gardening and recreation to promote positive social-emotional learning outcomes for students with limited access to nature.

The Deep Roots Program is a weekly gardening course at Herff Farm offered on a semester-by-semester basis to students with limited access to nature. Students design, build and plant beds for a market garden. They create products from the plants that they grow to sell at the Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo.

Program Areas Include:

• Gardening: designing, building, planting and harvesting a garden
• Sustainability: learning about the environment and ecosystem as a whole, and the role that we all play in it
• Entrepreneurship: selling products at the Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo
• Outdoor Recreation: enjoying opportunities to explore the trails, go fishing, and more

Kids Club partners with local schools, volunteers, and families to affirm God-given value and multiply possibilities together. Kids Club creates a fun, engaging environment where kids thrive through positive relationships with caring adults. Kids grow academically, expand life skills and develop Godly character.

This program provides brand, new bunk beds, mattresses, comforters, sheets, and pillows for children without beds. Volunteers help to deliver and assemble the bunk beds on site. A proper bed is a basic need for a child’s emotional, mental, and physical health. Every child should have a safe and comfortable bed to sleep in at night!

Must reside in Kendall County.

Nutritious, bountiful lunches are prepared each weekday during the summer and school breaks. Each weekend food bag consists of 4 meals and a variety of snacks. Throughout the school year, the bags are delivered to children enrolled in the Kendall County Head Start program. During the summer break, the bags are delivered to children participating in the Summer Lunch Program.?
