Communities Under the Bridge (CUB) (Faith / Christian )

Communities Under the Bridge began in 1996 as Church Under the Bridge.

We are a Christian faith-based ministry that believes in the power of the gospel to transform lives.

Our mission is to connect individuals, churches, businesses, and community groups with the homeless to bring the hope of Jesus Christ and to meet their essential needs for an improved circumstance.

Or vision is to minister where the homeless and those who are broken so they can find hope and agape love and live a life transformed by Jesus Christ; to bridge individuals, churches, businesses, and community groups with opportunities to serve in mission and ministry outreach.

We reach out with the love of Jesus, giving Hope through preaching, singing, teaching the Word of God, training, and services to satisfy both the Spiritual and physical needs of the congregation, including free meals, clothing, and overnight emergency shelter during extreme weather.

A nutritious dinner is served three days a week, followed by a worship service with a gospel message and contemporary Christian music.

After a balanced meal, individuals can receive a change of clothes, hygiene products, or special items we may have in stock (like blankets, hats, and gloves in winter months).

Most of our dinner guests and church members are currently unsheltered, but all are welcome.

Free.

Four times each year, in partnership with the Christian Medical and Dental Association, we host an 8-hour Health and Wellness Day where individuals can receive free dental and medical care.

Most dental procedures are offered, from X-rays and exams to restorative procedures and oral surgery.

Medical care normally includes pain management, HIV/AIDS testing, immunizations, women's health, and health education.

Our primary target is the chronically homeless individual without care, but we also serve the situationally homeless and under-served populations as space allows.

Contact Church Under the Bridge for next date and times.

Music: Musicians and singers from both CUB members and our partner churches bring contemporary Christian music on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. If you have been blessed with a gift to sing or play an instrument, consider offering it back to God through us.

Food: Churches and community groups purchase, prepare, and serve a nutritious meal three days a week. Smaller groups and individuals partner with them to help serve these meals after evening service.

Hospitality: Our Hospitality Ministry consists of many "helping" positions in which members from our partner churches and the homeless community can serve.

Peacemakers: Ushers help to guide attendees through our church services and into our feeding/clothing ministries after dinner. They assist the staff by providing information about our program and oversight for the facilities, parking, and peaceful evening operations.

Greeters: Greeters help to minister the love of God by welcoming attendees at the front door, offering them water to hydrate, and directing them to the bag checking area and sanctuary. Many days, the smile or word of kindness given by our Greeters may be the first act of love they’ve seen.

Clothes: After a balanced meal, individuals can receive a change of clothes, hygiene products, or special items we may have in stock (like blankets, hats, and gloves in winter months). This ministry depends on community donations year-round to operate.

Education: Developing and providing Christ-centered education is one of our current goals. If you are interested in helping with Christian education, contact us.
