SA Youth empowers San Antonio's high-risk youth and young adults to achieve their full potential by providing quality educational programming in a safe environment.

Our vision is that all San Antonio youth and young adults have equitable access to educational opportunities, graduate from high school, and become successful community-minded adults, regardless of circumstance.

We combat the issues of childhood obesity and physical inactivity by helping youth develop healthy lifestyles through free nutrition education, wholesome snacks, and necessary sustenance each day. Through daily exercise we promote moderate to vigorous physical activity. In addition, SA Youth promotes healthy living by advising against the use of negative behaviors such as smoking, consuming alcohol, and abusing drugs

COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION

One in four children in San Antonio suffers from food insecurity and hunger. We serve our youth with a healthy snack upon arriving at our centers after they finish the school day. Children who remain through dinner are also served a nutritious meal. Throughout the summer months, children are served a healthy breakfast along with a nutritious lunch. Our program provides wholesome sustenance and well-planned menu options designed by a Nutrition Coordinator at our site locations.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

SA Fit! provides our youth with hands-on, creative, and fun activities that are moderate to vigorous physical activities. Each day our youth engage in at least 60 minutes of structured physical activities at our site locations. Using GeoMotion and SPARK (Sports, Play, & Active Recreation for Kids) our youth are equipped with the tools to make healthy lifestyle choices. We also offer specialized physical fitness programs in:

  • Dance
  • Swimming
  • Cheerleading and tumbling
  • Rock-climbing

A community organization can only thrive in its mission when the community is in support of us 100%.

Giving your time to make a difference in a child's life is one of the greatest gifts a person can give. Our children crave adults who take an interest in them. Nothing can be more precious and enduring than the happiness you can create in the world by being a part of a child’s growth. Please take the opportunity to visit with us and become involved in our mission.

All you need is a desire to make a difference. If you have a passion for making a difference, becoming involved in your community, and helping our inner-city youth then volunteering is a wonderful way to show your support.
