Dress for Success San Antonio targets the needs of low-income women by promoting economic security and self-sufficiency to break the chains of generational poverty through job preparation, employment retention, and career development programs.

Career Gear San Antonio provides professional clothing, mentoring, and life skills to help men in poverty become stronger contributors to their families and communities.

Our approach prioritizes educating clients about career choice and employment stability; primary focus on career development and support, with clothing a tool to complete professional presentation. Emphasis is on education, teaching clients to understand the world of work and their places in it, with online skills training, business etiquette and problem-solving, contemporary search strategies, and safe social networking.

At the Dress for Success San Antonio Career Center, we have a knowledgable staff and a wide range of tools to get you started on the path towards a new career.

Career Gear is a non-profit organization that builds strong families and communities by empowering low-income men to overcome barriers and achieve self-sufficiency. We promote the economic independence of low-income men by providing financial literacy training, a network of support, professional attire, career development tools, job-readiness and essential life-skills training that help men enter the workforce, stay employed and become role models and mentors to their families and communities.

Career Gear provides professional clothing, mentoring and life-skills to help men in poverty become stronger contributors to their families and communities.

Career Gear Clothing Boutique has a large selection of sizes and colors. Clients pick out their business outfit with the help of a Direct Service Coordinator.

Clients have access to more than 300 on-line courses, at no charge, to expand or reinforce their skills sets. They may also test and receive certificates to validate their skills for prospective employers.

Must be enrolled in Dress for Success or Career Gear programs.

We are a networking organization for the women of Dress for Success, a place to empower yourself, a place to give back.
At a PWG meeting, we begin with networking time and then a speaker shares in their area of expertise.

Topics taught and discussed include:

We want you to feel your best while job searching and in the first few weeks of employment. Once you've scheduled an interview, obtain a referral to visit your local Dress for Success boutique. Our volunteers will work with you to help you choose an interview outfit and will also provide guidance and support for the upcoming interview.

Once clients secure a job, they are invited for employment suiting, with additional education in continuity of professional appearance and attitude, and training in economically extending their wardrobes.

Women who are either on or eligible for public assistance and are unemployed, or underemployed, and looking for employment.

Clients are referred from not-for-profit and governmental agencies including homeless shelters, job training programs and domestic violence shelters.
