It is our hope that you will strengthen your relationship with God each Sunday for traditional worship for the Holy Eucharist Rite II and in the evening for an expressive worship service holding to the liturgical roots of Episcopal and Anglican Worship.
The fifth Sunday of the month is designated as Service Sunday, which involves some members going out to serve our local community while others stay at the church for worship and to pray for those out serving.
On Wednesday we have Holy Eucharist Rite II with prayers for healing.
How can you become a member? First of all, we would love to have you join The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit (Holy Spirit for short)! Please contact the Rev. Jason Roberts and he will be happy to help you.
Baptism by water and in the name of the Holy Trinity makes us members of the Church. And, we can then live into the meaning of our baptism within specific congregations and Christian denominations. There are five sections on how to become a member which can be found here.

Our Core Values
At Higher Ground, we believe that our lives are a reflection of our core values—the fundamental beliefs and guiding principles upon which we serve in ministry and conduct ourselves as the body of Christ. The Core Values we embrace at Higher Ground are known as the P.E.A.R.L:
Passion – We are passionate about winning souls and displaying the courage to change lives.
Excellence - We will exemplify the heart of God in everything we do.
Accountability - We will collaborate, support, and respect each other as we serve God and His people.
Relevant - We are creative in delivering value to our congregation and community.
Loving - We cherish loving and genuine relationships.
Wherever you may be on your path, at Higher Ground Christian Worship Center, you will find a supportive community with unique opportunities for spiritual and personal growth. Join us in the celebration of the Lord. We look forward to meeting you!
Services begin with the Higher Ground Christian Worship Center’s Praise Team leading the church in music – song lyrics are projected onto a screen, so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of the service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus. In total, our service is about 90 minutes in length.
Sundays at HGCWC are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
What about my kids? We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week – and at HGCWC, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our HGCWC Kids program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in for the HGCWC Kids experience.
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura (Bible only), the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.

We are a historic church that loves being part of the vibrant, growing community of northwest San Antonio. We come together each week knowing we are a broken people who deeply need the love and grace of God for daily life right here and now. Christian faith and life is not just about “hereafter” it’s also about here and now.
The heart of our life together is worship. We believe God calls us together each week into worship where Christ promises to be present to feed us and forgive us. Our worship style is liturgical, meaning we follow the ancient pattern and rituals of Christian worship. That liturgical style is expressed through a wide variety of music.
As our worship together concludes, we are then sent out into daily life, seeking to be the love and mercy of God for a world so badly in need of God’s grace. We believe serving our neighbors locally and globally is a big part of who we are intended to be as God’s people.
If you’re looking for a church that has all the answers for you – well, that isn’t us! We are a community of believers seeking to respond to Christ’s call to worship and serve even as we wrestle with the big questions of life. We want you to know that you and your questions, your faith and your doubts, are welcome here! So come and join us as we explore life with God.
If you are in need of prayer, we would be honored to pray for you. Click here to send us your prayer request.
