The Next Ridgeline

The Green Beret Foundation’s Next Ridgeline program recognizes that no two Green Berets are alike. So, to be effective, our program goals strive to provide a self-driven, individualized experience. This will allow each Green Beret to utilize the sources, networks, and opportunities that are unique as he is.

By leveraging a diverse group of veteran organizations that specifically work in select areas, the Next Ridgeline program will work to develop each Green Beret’s core capabilities, enhancing his performance in our focus areas and creating a superior individual who is prepared for transition into the civilian world.

CAST MED was created to add to the pipeline of much-needed doctors and researchers in the San Antonio area. CAST MED builds on San Antonio’s unique strengths and current educational gaps with an emphasis on medicine and biomedical research. UT Health, with its research expertise and growing focus on population health and health disparities, is a key partner in helping design a path for students wishing to improve the health of our community. CAST MED will incorporate a three-way educational partnership between UT Health, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and San Antonio ISD.

Students enrolled in CAST MED will follow one of three pathways:

  • Biomedical Research
  • Medical Professionals
  • Public Health Professionals

Student enrollment is open to students across Bexar County through a lottery system. The application period for the cohort of ninth graders begins each November and ends in late January. Please call the school for updates on enrollment and registration, since they do change.

The intent of CAST Med High School is to provide high school students with a strong foundation, especially in mathematics and science so that they can be successful once they enroll in college and achieve their medical career aspirations. College coursework will be embedded in the classroom curriculum, allowing students to graduate with a high school diploma and a minimum of 30 hours of college coursework.
