Children Matter is the best option for both biological parents and family members by offering consistent visitation (pending court orders and family plans of service).

Our services include:

Individualized Parent Coaching Each biological parent receives a Visitation Coach as a part of their onboarding. This coach does one on one parent coaching using our twelve-week curriculum called “The Active Parent.” In these twelve weeks, parents will learn skills such as:

  • Character development
  • Good communication
  • Healthy structure
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Attachment/bonding
  • Effective discipline management
  • Family life skills

Supervised Family Visitation Children Matter offers our families a safe, comfortable, homelike setting where they can come and spend quality time together in a structured environment for both court-ordered and private services.

Before each visit, the parent receives parent coaching and immediately gets the opportunity to begin putting these skills to practice with their children in the visit that follows.

We work hard to inspire moments of healing, growth, and positivity during each visit as the family goes through the permanency process together.

Case Management We take care of all the details so our clients don’t have to. Our top-notch team members facilitate all communication and visitation scheduling with all parties.

We do hands-on work with:

  • CPS caseworkers
  • Social services
  • CASA advocates
  • Therapists
  • Attorneys
  • Foster caregivers

We also provide a detailed report of each visit for the progression of the case and for the safety of the children.

To get started, email a copy of your official court order to us at [email protected]. A team member will be in touch with intake and scheduling information.

Our services are offered on a sliding scale fee based on your service needs. There is a $25 initial intake fee for both the custodial and non-custodial parties.

The Advanced Learning Academy (ALA) at Fox Tech is a 4th - 12th Grade campus in the San Antonio Independent School District.

By using the broader community as its classroom, ALA leads in transforming the education model. Teachers collaborate to create a personalized learning experience for all students and foster a passion for exploration, deep thinking, problem-solving, and creative design. Authentic learning experiences provide all students with cutting-edge learning skills that prepare them for all futures they envision for themselves.

ALA is built around four commitments in service of its bold vision for a transformative educational model:

  • deep learning
  • individuality
  • flexible design
  • connection

ALA Fox Tech campus is open to students in 4th - 12th Grade. If there are fewer applications than seats available, no lottery is conducted and all students are accepted.  If there are more applications than available seats, a lottery is conducted, offers are made for the number of seats available, and the remaining students are waitlisted.

ALA employs design thinking as a major pillar of its educational philosophy, which uses empathy to understand the needs of real people and understands that problems seldom have one perfect solution.

ALA offers college prep opportunities like AP and dual-credit courses, and extracurricular programs like newspaper, gardening, and art.

To learn more, sign up here for one of our information sessions; Tour the school and meet the staff and current students.

ALA at Fox Tech partners with San Antonio ISD. To apply, please click here for their online enrollment system.

Couples often seek couples or marriage counseling when the relationship is at a standstill or unsure whether or not the relationship is worth salvaging. This type of therapy can benefit families with children who have been affected by relationship issues such as divorce, and confront the source of the conflict.

Treatment techniques may include the following depending on the therapist:

  • Gottman Method
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy
  • Positive Psychology
  • Imago Relationship Therapy
  • Analyzing Your Communication
  • Getting to the root of the problem
  • Enhancing Intimacy
  • Individual Counseling
  • Couple Retreat

When a relationship is showing signs of addiction, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, or severe depression, seek guidance from a counselor immediately, for your safety and your partner.

Intimacy problems widely occur behind a variety of closed doors. Conflicts may include a loss of harmony between the sheets, a lack of sexual desire between either partners, or failure in communication. There are often psychological factors that may contribute to a sexual disorder such as erectile dysfunction, or a lowered desire after a new mother has given birth. Intimacy issues are common, but if one or more become severe and there is no resolution in sight, it may be time to seek therapy for guidance.

Steps to take for treating intimacy issues begin with:

•    Psychosexual Therapy: this technique allows couples to express themselves in a safe environment with a trusted and supportive professional.

•    Relationship Counseling: healthy relationships require strong connections and time to build trust. Whatever the issue may be, a counselor can work with individuals together or separately to overcome the problem.

Restorative Justice (RJ) creates opportunities to right relationships among individuals, communities, and even systems. It invites people to identify and name harm (interpersonal, generational, systemic) and those who have done harm to make it right or be accountable.

At times RJ looks like advocacy, demonstrations, speaking truth to power, and at other times it looks like a facilitated conversation held in the presence of a loving community.

Community Circles

Circles are a powerful symbol of community, inclusion, equity, and wholeness.

At Empower House, we sit in circles with youth, adults, families, and our staff. Through circle practice, we build community, repair harm, learn together, work through conflict and heal.

Kairos Outside is designed to support the families of men, women, and youth who are, or have been incarcerated in the country’s state and federal correctional facilities.

KO can help bolster the loved ones who are supporting those incarcerated persons. We believe that the families of the incarcerated are “doing time” right along with their loved ones. Kairos Outside is intended to let those families know that there is a community that cares about them and their needs.

We provide a safe place for women to share with each other, and with those who are empathetic to their situation, their struggles and concerns. The women on the outside, in many ways, have to be stronger than their relative(s) on the inside to survive in today’s world.

We hope Kairos Outside will help them find strength for their life journey and give them a chance to find and build relationships that may last a lifetime.
