Do you dread going to work each morning? Did you “follow your passion” but now find yourself feeling unfulfilled and frustrated? Are you wondering if changing careers is the right move for you?

To experience a fully happy life, it’s important to have a career that you love. But a recent study concluded that over 50% of Americans are dissatisfied (if not downright unhappy) with their work. This dissatisfaction can lead to stress, anxiety, and even depression. This unhappiness can also bleed over into your personal life, negatively impacting the relationships you have with friends and loved ones.

Career counseling can help you choose or completely change a career at any stage in your life. Embarking on a new career, though exciting, can also be incredibly stressful, and most people find they could use some help navigating the journey.

Career counselors have been trained to provide concrete career information resources and discuss career development.

In a career counseling session, you and your counselor may discuss:

  • Your particular skills or talents to determine which career may align best
  • Higher educational requirements and opportunities
  • Potential earnings of various careers
  • Daily working environments
  • Opportunities for advancement

If you “followed your passion” but ended up in a career that no longer suits you, career counseling can help you figure out which direction to go next.

If you’re interested in exploring career counseling, please reach out so we can schedule an appointment. Let’s get back on the right track.

Our family affects who we are and who we become, both for the better and for the worse. We learn our vocabulary, our habits, our customs and rituals, and how to view and observe the world around us.

Anyone seeking healthier, closer family relationships can benefit from family therapy.

Common reasons for seeking family therapy include:

  • Divorce
  • Parent-child conflict
  • Problems between siblings
  • Domestic violence
  • The unexpected or traumatic loss of a family member

Family therapy is necessary to address family issues and heal a family’s wounds. If any of the above scenarios resonate with your family, consider seeking family therapy. Family therapy can be beneficial on many different levels.

Suppose you or a loved one is seeking an immigration waiver or filing to petition a judge to grant a suspension of deportation. In that case, a clinical evaluation can help strengthen your case. Four types of immigration waivers can benefit from a clinical mental health evaluation:

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers (I-601)
  • U-Visa (Victims of Crime)
  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA-Domestic Violence)
  • Political Asylum

Understanding that each individual’s experience is unique, a safe environment is provided to help the client report any underlying circumstances to help present a compelling case. My personal experience attending St. Mary’s University allowed me to meet peers from across the globe. Traveling throughout Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East further reinforced my admiration and respect for other cultures and faiths.

I am privileged to have worked on evaluations for people from Mexico, Central & South America, China, and India. As a bilingual clinician licensed by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, I am also a graduate of the Immigration Evaluation Institute.

  • You’re interested in therapy, but you don’t want to give up total control

Communities In Schools programs surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community’s unique needs, is the basis for our success.

Basic Needs: A student cannot focus in the classroom if he or she is hungry, cold or tired, or cannot see the board. Site coordinators see to it that students' basic needs are met each day.

Enrichment: Our Site coordinators enroll students in a wide variety of after-school and summer programs, field trips and youth conferences to help them gain experience that is essential to meeting college and career goals.

Academic Assistance: Our site coordinators work hard to ensure that students have the resources to progress academically. From providing students with tutors to finding and creating quiet spaces where students can study, we do whatever it takes to create an optimal learning environment for our students.

Life Skills: Through one-on-one workshops, team building, and guest speakers, we work with students to develop social-emotional learning, character education, social skills building, and conflict resolution.

Behavioral Interventions: Many of our students face and overcome difficult obstacles in their lives. However, their survival skills aren’t always effective in the classroom or in the workplace. Our program teaches students positive ways to cope with anger, conflict resolution, and other strategies to keep them focused on school.

Family Engagement: Site coordinators connect families with counselors and social workers to make sure that home is a healthy, nurturing environment where a student can feel safe.
