Family law issues are uniquely personal and complex. Having an experienced lawyer on your side protects you and your children.

Our family law services:

Child support involves a great deal of financial information and math work. If you miscalculate or fail to find the right information, your children may be receiving far less than they are entitled to.

Divorce can be the most complex area of family law, especially if it involves children and/or real estate. Speak with an experienced family law firm like ours to see how we can help you navigate through a divorce.

Motion to Enforce If your ex is refusing to comply with a court order (by not paying child support or violating your visitation rights), then you will need to bring this to the attention to the court with a motion to enforce.

Adoption Adults and minors alike can be adopted. An adoption grants legal parenthood over the person being adopted. This is emotionally priceless, and also legally important for inheritance and other purposes.

Name Change Texas imposes few restrictions on how you can change your name, but changing your name is not as simple as the stroke of a pen. As such, it is best to have the assistance of an experienced family law attorney, who has the latest legal forms and knows the rules of civil procedure.

Child Support / Visitation There is little as precious to us as the time we spend with our children. With an experienced negotiator, you can maximize the amount of time that you can spend with your little ones.

CPS Litigation If Texas suspects that children are being abused or neglected, it can seize them and then try to permanently terminate the parent-child relationship.

If Texas has taken your children or other minors and you want to be involved, contact an attorney to better understand the process and what you can do to help.

Marriage Marrying someone is one of the most important decisions you can make in life. As such, it never hurts to consult with a family attorney to discuss your marriage plans, consider premarital counseling, review any contracts you are signing for your marriage ceremony, and/or draft a premarital agreement to make sure that your marital vows truly mean something.

Fees vary depending on service.

Understanding Foster Care

When children can’t safely live at home, the court can give temporary legal possession to Child Protective Services (CPS). CPS assigns a case worker to the children and then the immediate goal is to find a safe home for the children to live while the biological parents work to get their rights back.

These temporary places could be:

  • Foster family homes
  • Residential group care facilities
  • Facilities overseen by another state agency

Foster care is meant to be temporary until the parents demonstrate they can safely care for their children. However, it can become permanent if the court determines parental rights should be terminated and the children become legally free for adoption.

Foster parents are typically the natural choice for the permanency provided through adoption. But it's an uncertain road that you must be prepared to travel.

1HOPE is Ready to Help

We see the need and we will partner with you to answer the call. Through 1HOPE’s training and verification of families, we can place children in your safe, loving home. Knowing that God “sets the lonely into families” (Psalm 68:6), 1HOPE feels called to provide foster care services to kids in crisis by:

  • Recruiting, training, and verifying foster families
  • Facilitating excellent matches of children and families
  • Providing continuing education and support for foster families
  • Helping develop care communities to support each 1HOPE foster family
  • Assisting area churches in developing Foster/Adopt Ministries

Missional Opportunity

Foster families are, in effect, local missionaries. By accepting a child into their home, they also open their door to caseworkers, CASA volunteers, birth families, therapy team members, school teachers, medical professionals, and others.

They have the opportunity to share the tangible love of Christ in hurting places. By ministering as foster/adopt families, you are contributing to the sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ -- the one HOPE of the world!

“My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved”
                                    ~ Romans 10:1

Adaya
by Chosen

Our Adaya program helps youths without a permanent placement know they are valued and cherished. Our personnel coaches engage with these young people, not just as therapists, but as partners to help them build attachment and start a journey towards healing. Coaches are going to the youth, wherever their temporary placement is, to ensure they receive the trauma-responsive intervention they need and deserve.

When a placement is identified for these youth, Chosen’s staff “follow the child,” helping the transition to a family, ensuring stability and higher success rates. This essential component is critical to help youth heal in safe, loving, and permanent relationships.
