The people of Esperanza dream of a world where everyone has civil rights and economic justice, where the environment is cared for, where cultures are honored and communities are safe.

The Esperanza advocates for those wounded by domination and inequality — women, people of color, the lesbian, gay, trans and queer community, the working class and poor. We believe in creating bridges between people by exchanging ideas and educating and empowering each other. We believe it is vital to share our visions of hope… we are esperanza.

Huisache Avenue Baptist Church (Faith / Christian )

Huisache Avenue Baptist Church's purpose is to glorify the Lord. This is the reason why the Lord created every person on this Earth. You were created for something more than to go to work and exist in this world. You were created for a far greater purpose. You were created to put a smile on the face of The Lord Jesus Christ. We fulfill our mission at HABC by seeking the lost, teaching the found, and inspiring them to do something for the Lord they have never done before.

At HABC, going to church is still like going to church. We desire believers to hear the truth while feeling the convicting and drawing power of the Holy Spirit. We pray the Lord's presence is manifest at every service. The Bible is our authority. Preaching is our communication. Prayer is our engine. The Glory of God is our motivation and inspiration. We would love for you to come so we may be a blessing to you. We are greatly committed to the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.

For more than 50 years, AAMA has helped Latinos achieve their potential.

We’ve motivated youth to finish school and encouraged many to go on to college. We’ve taught immigrant adults to communicate in English and have guided scores of them to gain the knowledge they need to become contributing United States citizens. We’ve prepared them to enter workforce development courses and secure livable wage jobs. We’ve helped both youth and adults break the cycle of addiction and make positive choices that improve the quality of their lives.

AAMA has empowered men, women, and children to pursue their dreams and inspired leaders within the community. In short, AAMA has helped tens of thousands of Latinos to achieve. To be truly amazing.

Our core purpose: to be Jesus' witnesses in the world.

What is the Young Women’s Leadership Academy?

The Young Women’s Leadership Academy is San Antonio’s only public all-girls school, and enjoys total focus from its principal and educational team. Its results speak for themselves.

  • 100% of students graduate from high school
  • 100% of students are accepted at a wide range of colleges and universities across the United States.

How is YWLA Different?

The unique differentiator is support from the private YWLA Foundation, which focuses on:

  • A high-achieving educational culture
  • A commitment to graduating 100% of each class, and ensuring all students enter college with an educational toolbox to assure successful graduation.

Key success pointers for the YWLA program:

  • Rigorous Academics
  • Focus on Healthy Living

Blue Ribbon Status for YWLA

In 2015, when the Young Women’s Leadership Academy accepted the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon award for academic achievement, it was the only school in San Antonio to receive the coveted recognition.

The fact that the school had opened its doors only seven years earlier added to the surprise of the announcement.

Alamo Colleges District (School )
