Ready to Work makes continuing your education and finding a quality job easier for you. Your personal Ready to Work coach will help you with every step of the process, from understanding your specific situation, coaching you through career and education planning, enrolling and paying for your classes, increasing your confidence and soft skills, updating your resume, preparing you for interviews, connecting you to new job opportunities, and helping you thrive in your job.

Our Partner Agency, Chrysalis Ministries, provides hands-on case management services to help former inmates and their families as they overcome the consequences of incarceration. Eligibility Requirements can be found here.

How long will it take to get started?

After you enroll, our case managers will have one week to contact you. From then, you’ll work with the case manager to get enrolled in your educational program within one month.

What kind of training do you provide?

We offer a variety of training programs from high-school equivalencies, to certifications, to associate's degrees, to bachelor's degrees across a variety of sectors.

How do I know that I’ll get a good job after I finish my training?

We have partnered with over 200 employers across San Antonio to make sure that you’re getting education for jobs that are in demand and jobs that are paying at least $15 an hour.

Will I get paid to go to school?

No. Ready to Work will provide money for tuition and emergency funds, but we cannot pay you to go to school.

What is the minimum age for Ready to Work?

You must be 18 years old when applying for the program.

Are there any residency requirements?

You must be a resident of San Antonio and be permitted to work in the US.

Are there income requirements?

You must have income less than 250% of federal poverty guidelines ($33,975 for an individual, or $69,375 for a household of four)

Are there more eligibility requirements?

You cannot be enrolled in any college courses at the time of intake to Ready To Work. You must be willing to take assessments relating to barriers, academics, skills aptitude, and workplace readiness. You must commit to completing the program.
