Crosspoint’s Vets program provides transitional residential rehabilitation and case management services for homeless Veterans. Services include beds for men in our Summit Facility and for women in Crosspoint’s new Women’s Wellness Center in our Alvarez Facility. The Vets program is funded under contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and provides a 3 to 6 month program that focuses on stabilizing housing and the myriad issues related to physical health, behavioral health and trauma histories our Veterans face.

The Vets program emphasizes comfortable, structured transitional housing and includes case management that provides a bio-psycho-social needs assessment, individual program planning and structured groups such as life skills classes, self-help support groups and individual counseling. All services are coordinated with social work staff from DVA. The program offers Veterans a chance to reestablish stable, happy lives.

Admission to the Vets program is managed through DVA HCHV social workers, Call 210 225-0864 ext 2048 for more information, or call Healthcare for Homeless Veterans at (210) 616-9915.

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) provides comprehensive support to Family members with special needs. EFMP takes an all-inclusive approach to coordinate military and civilian community, educational, medical, housing, and personnel services to help Soldiers and their Families with special needs.

An Exceptional Family Member is a Family member with any physical, emotional, developmental, or intellectual disorder that requires special treatment, therapy, education, training, or counseling, and meets the eligibility criteria.

Soldiers with Exceptional Family Members are required to register for EFMP and keep enrollment information current. This way, Family needs will be considered during the OCONUS assignments process.

If you’re eligible for EFMP services, Family members must be screened and enrolled when they accompany authorized Soldiers on OCONUS assignments. Screenings include medical records review for all Family members and developmental screening for all children aged 72 months and younger.

Click here to find an EFMP service near you.

Who must enroll in the program?

  • Active Army
  • U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) Soldiers in the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Program
  • Army National Guard (ARNG) AGR personnel serving under authority of 10 USC and 32 USC. Department of the Army civilian employees do not enroll in the program.

You must identify dependent children with special education and medically related service needs and Family members with medical needs each time they process for an assignment to a location outside the United States where Family member travel is authorized at government expense.

Sometimes, knowing how to support Veterans is difficult. In an all-volunteer military, many people choose not to serve and would like to understand how they can help our nation's Heroes.

SACVF can help by providing training or briefs to your group, company, or program on key Veteran issues and how you can help.

Offering Veterans opportunities for healing, wellness and community through engagement in the arts.

Every Veteran has the opportunity to experience the healing power of the arts.

Bihl Haus Arts (BHA), collaborating with Vet TRIIP, both located in San Antonio, Texas, has launched an innovative program offering professionally taught drawing and painting classes to veterans who are experiencing depression or are clinically or self-diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The mission of Forward, Arts! is to offer veterans opportunities for healing, wellness and community through engagement in the arts.

The potential for healing that comes through hands-on, creative engagement with art-in this case, painting and drawing-is proven. While BHA’s pilot class is a pioneering endeavor in San Antonio, it emerged from national military initiatives in the arts and BHA’s nationally recognized arts program.

Hospice professionals across the country focus on a single purpose: to provide comfort and support at the end of life. That’s why America’s hospice professionals are on a mission to learn how to serve Veterans through the challenges they may be facing from illness, isolation, or traumatic life experiences.

America’s Veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country. Now it is time that we step up, acquire the necessary skills, and fulfill our mission to serve these men and women with the dignity they deserve.

Regardless of the situation, it is a priority of the We Honor Veterans program to ensure that all Veterans receive compassionate, quality care at the end of life.

Bristol Hospice gratefully offers education and assistance to Veterans regarding their hospice benefits.

Veterans helping veterans is a Ministry, found it at true Vision Church, that brings veterans within the surrounding communities together for Fellowship to collaborate and share information on Veteran Affairs, claims and benefits. This ministry assists in providing meaningful insight about underutilized resources made available by the Department of Veterans Affairs to our country’s veterans.

Along with collaborative information shared during the fellowship, guests from different agencies of the Veterans Affairs Community will provide representations of the latest issues concerning veterans. VHV is not staffed with the Department of Veterans Affairs trained or certified Personnel therefore we do not advise veterans on how to file Veterans Affairs claims. Through Ministry we encourage our fellow veterans, provide information of where are some resources entitled to them can be obtained, and pray with them while they journey through their post military years.
