Worldwide Marriage Encounter emphasizes communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend together away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life to concentrate on each other. Its mission of renewal in the Church and change in the world is to assist couples and priests in living fully intimate and responsible relationships by providing them with a Catholic "experience" and ongoing community support for such a lifestyle.

The Marriage Encounter Community (also called Love Circle, circle, board, etc.) is a monthly gathering that supports couples who have made a Marriage Encounter Weekend by encouraging their Sacramental Unions with prayer, presentation, dialogue, and sharing of feelings. The presentation deals with some aspects of the marital relationship. The community supports the Church by furthering another ministry within the parish and the local area of Marriage Encounter by promoting and assisting with the weekend.

Marriage Encounter is not a retreat, a marriage clinic, or group sensitivity. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage.

Counseling:

Each child over 5 is welcomed and encouraged to participate in receiving individual therapy by our counselor. There is a children’s counseling group that meets once a week during evening group time for children in the shelter. Parents can requests counseling for their children and the Children's Services Coordinator will make that referral.

  • Counseling is available for community members who have experienced abuse by a significant other, household member or relative.
  • Counselors are available to meet with you in a safe, undisclosed location to discuss your situation and the ways domestic violence has impacted your life.
  • You do not have to be separated from an abusive spouse/partner to receive counseling services, but please be aware and take steps to keep yourself safe.
Case Management:
When a new family enters the shelter, it can be a difficult and scary time for children of all ages. The Children’s Services Coordinator (CSC) or other children’s staff and interns will work with each family to help with the transition of living in the emergency shelter.

Educational Arrangements:
It has been shown that each time a student changes schools, they lose about six months academically. At Family Abuse Center, it is the CSC’s goal that all children are in a safe school within 24 business hours of their arrival at the shelter.

Preventative Services:
A representative from the children’s department is happy to present child abuse identification and prevention, domestic violence and children, and violence prevention information to schools, community groups or organizations.

Evening Activity Groups:
Evening activity groups meet every evening from 7-8pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Parent Coaching

Parent Coaching is a valuable service for parents who are experiencing conflicts with their children, no matter the child’s age. It can be helpful for parents who are dealing with behavior issues, communication problems, or simply want to improve their parenting skills. Parent Coaching can also be useful for parents who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, which may be affecting their ability to parent effectively.

Parent-child conflict

Parent-child conflict can be caused by a range of issues, including different communication styles, behavioral issues, academic challenges, life transitions, and mental health problems.

The source of conflict can be complicated and may involve a combination of factors. That’s why it’s important to have a qualified therapist guide you through the process of understanding and addressing the conflict.

Mental illness in Parent-Child Conflict:

Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, or trauma, can significantly impact the parent-child relationship. Children who grow up with a parent who has a mental health condition may experience stress, uncertainty, and emotional instability. At Allegiance Mental Health & Wellness Services, we provide support not only for the parent with the mental health condition but also for the children and the entire family.

At Allegiance Mental Health & Wellness Services, our licensed therapists provide personalized

  • Parent Coaching services to help families develop effective parenting strategies.
  • We use evidence-based practices to improve communication and strengthen the parent-child relationship. Our goal is to create a supportive and nurturing environment for your family.

Through partnerships with other service providers and agencies within our service area, we are meeting the need for effective and beneficial parent education.

Our parent education programs follow an instructional and supportive framework aimed at increasing nurturing skills and reducing the potential for abusive or neglectful behaviors.

Staff are trained facilitators and utilize the tips and techniques of the philosophies while working with families, whether in a group education setting or while addressing specific parenting struggles with an individual family.

We have adopted these philosophies as guides for helping parents feel more confident and capable in their role.

If you would like more information about parent education, give us a call! We are always eager to talk with other agencies about this service and unique ways it can be utilized.

I will be his Father, and he shall be my son. I will never take My love away from him...

1 CHRONICLES 17:13

Fathers in the Field leads boys outdoors, away from distractions, where they can relate one-to-one with a man they admire.

We reach them through single mothers, eager to give sons a father figure – a role they cannot fill alone.

Boys aged 7 to 17, who urgently need male role models.

We do require a three-year commitment (one year at a time) from participants, to provide constancy

We require that boys ‘earn’ the program’s blessings by serving others.

Above all, we strive to impart unshakable faith in a Heavenly Father who will never abandon His children.

Free of charge – we are funded by charitable sponsors and participating churches.
