Couples often seek couples or marriage counseling when the relationship is at a standstill or unsure whether or not the relationship is worth salvaging. This type of therapy can benefit families with children who have been affected by relationship issues such as divorce, and confront the source of the conflict.
Treatment techniques may include the following depending on the therapist:
- Gottman Method
- Narrative Therapy
- Emotionally Focused Therapy
- Positive Psychology
- Imago Relationship Therapy
- Analyzing Your Communication
- Getting to the root of the problem
- Enhancing Intimacy
- Individual Counseling
- Couple Retreat
When a relationship is showing signs of addiction, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, or severe depression, seek guidance from a counselor immediately, for your safety and your partner.
Intimacy problems widely occur behind a variety of closed doors. Conflicts may include a loss of harmony between the sheets, a lack of sexual desire between either partners or failure in communication. There are often psychological factors that may contribute to a sexual disorder such as erectile dysfunction, or a lowered desire after a new mother has given birth. Intimacy issues are common, but if one or more become severe and there is no resolution in sight, it may be time to seek therapy for guidance.
Steps to take for treating intimacy issues begin with:
• Psychosexual Therapy: this technique allows couples to express themselves in a safe environment with a trusted and supportive professional.
• Relationship Counseling: healthy relationships require strong connections and time to build trust. Whatever the issue, a counselor can work with individuals together or separately to overcome the problem.

Couples Therapy:
Whether you are married, dating, or living together, you and your partner can benefit from couples therapy. Couples therapy uses psychotherapeutic techniques to address a couple’s dynamic in both individual and couple sessions.
Any couple can benefit from couples therapy. It is a common misconception to think that only couples on the edge of a breakup need this form of therapy. Many perfectly healthy couples attend couples therapy so that they can proactively work on maintaining balance and happiness in their relationship.
Family Counseling:
When a family wants to work on improving communication and the ties that bind them together, they often turn to family counseling. Family counseling never focuses one one person, but rather the group dynamic as a whole. Patients can participate in group family sessions as well as in individual sessions that address the family dynamic. Family counseling is typically strengths-based, meaning it focuses on the assets of each family member rather than their deficits.
Family counseling treats a number of things, including:
- Mental health disorders or addiction in a family
- Traumas such as death or chronic illness
- Divorce
- Incarceration
- Conflict
- Developmental delays
- Blended families

Adult Counseling
In counseling, our focus is to resolve the issues that bring you to counseling and to help you establish or re-establish your life most healthily. The first step is to work on identifying the goals you seek to accomplish. Then, our counseling acts to help you release the forces of positive growth forces already present within you. With dedication, you can fulfill your goals grow beyond negative patterns from the past, and be empowered to move forward with freedom in your life. Our therapists are trained to help you resolve all life, college, career, family, and relationship difficulties or transitions.
Couples Counseling
Everyone knows that having good communication is vital to your relationship. Since statistics show that over 60 percent of marriages end in divorce, one reason may be that many couples don’t seek relationship counseling until it’s too late. Most of us realize that getting rid of our partner does not get rid of the problems because half of the problem is ours. You can walk out of your relationship/marriage, but you can’t run away from yourself - no matter how hard you try. One of the biggest challenges for most couples is learning how to stop blaming each other so they can work through the troubled times without the power struggles. Couples counseling offers a haven for partners to express their needs, and fears and effectively resolve anger and conflict.
