The Texas Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Comprehensive 2.0 (child welfare) assessment is a multi-purpose tool developed for youth under the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).

The assessment helps create individualized plans and objectives related to permanency planning, safety and well-being, and the quality of life of youth in foster care.

• be able to remain in contact with program staff

The New Start program increases engagement in substance abuse treatment, behavioral health, and HIV services for underserved populations at risk for HIV/AIDS.
