Provide support to NISD students and families by providing clothing in an effort to reduce barriers and increase attendance. Clothing is free to families and the student/family must have a counselor referral to access services.

• Provide 5 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 brand new socks, and 5 brand new bottoms to every enrolled NISD student in the referred family.
• Create volunteer opportunities for staff, students, and the greater community.
• Receive donations of gently used clothes and ready them for use.
• Families must get a referral from their NISD counselor to utilize this free service.

Zapatos strives to help society’s less fortunate families in the poorest communities of Bexar County by providing new shoes to children in these families.

We work through school counselors, social workers, and/or family liaisons who contact us with referrals for children in need. If we do not have the shoes in our stock, we purchase them and take them to the school, which then gives them to the child.

We strive for a one- to two-day turnaround. No child should have to wait for shoes.

Note: Shoes can be requested only by school personnel. If you are a parent of a child needing shoes, please contact your child’s school.

Anyone outside the designated zip codes can receive assistance once every four months.

We do not provide financial assistance for utilities and rent.

• Food is given once a month to each qualiflying person.

Our pantry is stocked with gently used and new clothing items such as pants/shorts, shirts, sweaters, coats, dresses, socks, and shoes. We carry a variety of clothing for men, women, and children.

Depending on the supply, families can receive 5-10 articles of clothing each week.

San Antonio Threads answers true “Fashion Emergencies” throughout our city, from house fires to hospital rooms.

Emergency Threads serves:

• Youth and families who have experienced disasters such as fires and floods
• Youth in emergency placements, rescue situations, hospitals, and mental health facilities who have been referred by their caseworkers
• Youth outreach organizations that operate emergency closets

Youth in need must be referred by an adult who is familiar with the situation. Click here to refer a youth.

We provide NEW clothing, essentials, personal care items, and more for teen girls and boys in foster care and other at-risk youth for FREE.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers working in the shop help each and every referred youth shopper get the best shopping experience while selecting all their NEW clothing!

Our target age group is 12-21 years, including teens in foster care, teens that have aged out of foster care, homeless teens, and otherwise at-risk teens.

Youth in need must be referred by an adult who is familiar with the youth's situation. Personnel representing agencies, schools, group homes, and regional treatment centers are welcome to refer a teen to San Antonio Threads.
