The Molly Pruitt Library at Roosevelt High School is the only dual-use school and public library in central Texas. Made possible by an agreement between the North East Independent School District (NEISD) and the City of San Antonio, the library serves students at Roosevelt High School while also providing resources and programming to the community. The library is open year-round.

Pruitt Library patrons have access to both San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) and Roosevelt High School books. SAPL books may be returned to any public library branch in San Antonio. However, Roosevelt HS books must be returned to the Roosevelt HS Library (that is, Pruitt Library). Also, because we are located at a school, by state mandate library visitors during school hours must present their photo ID before entry.

Parking & Directions

The Molly Pruitt library is located in north east San Antonio on the campus of Roosevelt High School, but is open to the public.

From Walzem Road about four blocks south of I-35, turn onto Ray Bon Drive and take the first driveway on your right. The library’s entrance is in front of you, off the circle drive just left of the big glass windows. Patron parking is in the numbered spaces next to the sidewalk by the flagpoles.

The SACADA Resource Center is an educational resource for the community on substance abuse and mental health issues. The clearinghouse consists of pamphlets, brochures, bookmarks and posters on topics such as, but not limited to, alcohol, tobacco and marijuana.

We also have information on subject matters that may correlate with substance abuse such as mental health issues, HIV/STD prevention and violence prevention. These materials are free to the community, are available in limited quantities and may be available in Spanish.

The media/book lending library is also free for the community to use. We allow a person to check out 2 items at a time, to be borrowed up to 2 weeks at a time. Topics of our media/book library include subjects on addition, mental health issues, drugs and alcohol, etc. The lending library also has book and media in Spanish.

No appointment necessary.
