The Soldiers’ Angels Sewing and Crafting Team provides lovingly created handmade pieces of comfort and support to veterans, deployed service members and their families.

Whether a Team Angel is an expert seamstress or a casual hobbyist, there is an opportunity to meet the needs of our troops on the Sewing and Crafting Team. Many Sewing and Crafting Team Angels rely on their personal talents and skill sets to knit, sew, crochet and quilt their gifts of support.

For those less experienced, no-sew blankets provide an opportunity to become more involved. These handmade items are then distributed within the military community to active duty service members, expectant military families and in VA hospitals around the country.

To join Soldiers’ Angels and participate in the Sewing and Crafting Team click here to get started!

The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio opened its doors to the public at its current location in May 2000, however; Holocaust education has been an ongoing priority of the San Antonio Jewish community for more than forty years.

Today thousands of students annually visit the museum where they are provided with a docent-led tour explaining the history of this time period, view a movie or participate in a meaningful activity and hear a Holocaust survivor’s testimony.

The Holocaust Memorial Museum can accommodate group tours of up to 200 participants in the Fall and Spring (September-May) and 100 participants during the Summer (June-August) Tours last approximately 2-4 hours depending on group size.

Due to the graphic nature of the content depicted in the Museum, tour requests will be accepted for grades 6 and up. For 5th-grade groups, special consideration is taken to ensure the students are prepared for the subject matter and visual depiction of the Holocaust. Exceptions will not be made for 4th grade or below.

A donation of $1 per student and $3 per adult is recommended.

The concept behind Friends of Spare Parts dba Spare Parts was developed in 2011 by our founder Mary Elizabeth Cantú, as a response to the lack of art funds and resources in PreK-12 classrooms.

The Spare Parts Center for Creative Reuse is San Antonio’s first art supply thrift store. The purpose of the Center for Creative Reuse is to facilitate the intake of pre-owned creative materials and supplies that would otherwise be thrown away or underutilized and offers them back into the community through program offerings and storefront. The revenue earned ensures that Spare Parts can continue to expand and serve the community. Click here for the workshops and online store.

The Center is a community-driven operation and depends on material donors, volunteers, and patrons to continue to sustain a safe and welcoming place where teachers, parents, crafters, kids, and artists, can access affordable pre-loved supplies and materials.

Spare Parts Connect is an innovative educational program that connects businesses and organizations with the community to foster creativity, sustainability, and collaboration. Spare Parts Connect promotes the concept of creative reuse by offering a unique opportunity for businesses and organizations to engage with their audience through hands-on activities and demonstrations.

With Spare Parts Connect, our facilitators come to your place of business, school, or special event, and you get captivating experiences that engage and inspire audiences of all ages. For more information, please click here.
