Supporting the long-term health of a Green Beret's Mind, Body, and Spirit.

The long-term health of a Green Beret’s mind, body, and spirit is of the utmost importance to the Foundation. We supplement the care that the Military Health System (MHS) and Veterans Health Administration (VA) provide to ensure total wellness for the Green Beret.

Some examples of how we support our community:

  • Funded Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for TBI and PTSD
  • Alpha-Stim®
  • Infrared Light Therapy
  • ChiliPad™
  • Neurofeedback
  • Laser Regeneration Therapy
  • Aphasia Therapy
  • Access to substance abuse treatment
  • Inpatient/Outpatient healthcare costs not covered by TRICARE or the Veterans Health Administration

Health and Wellness Support Process:

  1. A Green Beret, family member, or Care Coalition advocate contacts the Foundation to inform us of a need that has arisen in our community.
  2. We ensure the person is, in fact, a Green Beret and that the need is valid and not supported by the Veterans Administration.
  3. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  4. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  5. We require supporting documentation to communicate the scope and cost of the support required.
  6. We continuously engage with the Green Beret and his family to see if the support has been helpful and if other needs have arisen.

Phase One

Our Phase One program prepares students to be disciples through a six-month course filled with Bible studies, service work in the community, and volunteer work for other non-profit organizations. The students also assist in the San Antonio Christian Church community soup kitchen as well as in their food pantry distributions.

During this phase, we will also help students with ID recovery, if needed, to prepare them for the workplace and so they can transition into our Phase Two work program.

The program has a productive daily routine that all must adhere to. Think of it as a Boot Camp for Life. Each day begins with prayer and Bible study.  The remainder of the day keeps residents active and engaged.

Students participate in Hands-On Training (HOT), which includes community service, evangelizing, and assisting other ministries.  We train students to be disciples of Jesus Christ through biblical truths.  This experience equips each one to live to the full potential God intended for their lives.

Phase Two

Our Phase Two program helps students find employment.  Participants then contribute 25% of their income toward room and board, as a way of giving back, keep 25% for their personal basic needs, and save 50% to eventually use towards transitioning back home with family or to begin independent living.

Our requirements:

  • At-risk men
  • A referral from a pastor or ministry is preferred
  • To have and maintain the desire to change their life
  • To have and maintain the ability to surrender

Phase 1: Nothing.
Phase 2: 25% of income.

Over time, disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and more can develop as a result of these cognitive distortions. Below are four examples of cognitive distortions identified in CBT.

  • Individual Therapy
In most teen treatment centers, individual sessions are offered only once a week. At Innova Joy, teens attend multiple weekly sessions with licensed clinicians. We create specialized treatment plans tailored to the specific constellation of behaviors and co-occurring issues.
  • Parent Support
You desire a deeper bond and understanding with your teen, but may just not know how to get there. Innova Joy offers coaching and support groups for parents to redefine their relationships with their teens, allowing for improved communication, understanding and trust.
  • Academics
The academic component of your teen's life is critical to establishing a structured environment. Your child will attend classes daily with a certified teacher to help regain school credits and ensure they are well prepared academically post graduation from our program.
  • Trauma-Focused Treatment
Trauma is often stored in the body as well as the mind; therefore, we believe in treating the whole person. From animal-assisted therapy to EMDR, we ensure that every aspect of your teen's experience promotes healing and wellness.

Getting to the point where you can admit that you need to seek addiction treatment for your substance use disorder is a monumental step. This means that you have entered your journey of recovery, even if you feel like you haven’t started yet.

Seeking treatment for your addiction can be scary and overwhelming. Still, with the help of addiction recovery centers and detox centers, you can be sure that you will get professional help. Trying to figure out your addiction on your own is sometimes impossible, but that’s completely normal. Most people need some encouragement and support to get through it.

At Soba Recovery Center’s San Antonio location, you get to experience treatment services that are personalized to meet all your specific needs for substance abuse recovery. No matter what you are struggling with, we here at Soba Texas treatment centers are prepared to assist you.

The treatment that you will receive almost always starts with the detoxification program. To begin your recovery, you need to be free from substances, which is exactly what that detoxification program does.

What Is Detoxification Treatment Like at Soba Texas?

Not everyone is going to need to undergo detoxification, depending on your needs. If you are actively struggling with substances and find that you cannot go a day without fear of withdrawal symptoms, this will benefit you greatly.

The detox program is meant to help you get sober without putting your life or wellness in danger. Detoxification can take a serious toll on the body, especially if someone uses substances like alcohol, or prescription drugs like benzodiazepines, or meth. When your body cannot replenish with these substances, there can be negative side effects.

Being discharged from an inpatient program can be intimidating. For many, it means that you are going to immerse yourself back into reality, which might mean facing triggers and your addiction head-on.

Not everyone is ready to pick up where they left off once they finish inpatient treatment. Some people need a little more support for the first month after being hospitalized, and that’s okay. It’s also not unexpected.

Outpatient services often work as a bridge for those leaving inpatient. They can become more comfortable leaving the facility and heading into the real world while returning for therapy and treatment.

But, some people need an extra level of care, which is where an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) comes into play.

What To Expect in an IOP:

When you enter into an Intensive Outpatient Program, there are different requirements you need to meet. These all pertain to the methods of treatment, different activities to participate in, and your overall recovery journey.

In an IOP, you will attend both individual therapy and group therapy. This will allow you to understand your connection to substance abuse better and find mental health support from other people fighting substance use disorder. Community is key.

Through support groups and recreational activities, you can find common ground with other patients. During an IOP, one of our goals is to introduce you to other sober individuals so that you can continue developing healthy connections once you’ve left our facility.

If you are looking to find a treatment option with extensive individual and group therapy, accountability, and accessibility, it may be worth taking a closer look at outpatient treatment.

Everyone deserves access to treatment for their substance use disorder, but not everyone can afford to stop what they are doing and enter an inpatient service. You might have a job that you can’t take time off from, or schoolwork that you cannot get extensions for, or maybe a family that needs you to take care of them. An active addiction can take a toll.

Outpatient services offer another way of getting treatment for your substance abuse while still maintaining some of your responsibilities. While there are many benefits to inpatient services, outpatient therapy can be just as helpful for long-term recovery.

You will still receive a high level of care while in outpatient drug or alcohol rehab.

What To Expect From Outpatient:

Outpatient services teach you how to cope with your drug or alcohol addiction and find ways to manage it when off in the real world. Those who have to return to situations where active use is happening, or there is a lack of support, can find it challenging to stay sober, but outpatient services provide you with tools and methods to control your urges.

Outpatient services offer learning opportunities so you can better understand relapse, coping mechanisms, triggers, and addiction as a disease. These services are often geared towards your personal needs, so they take into account your environment and history of substance use.

Outpatient allows you to maintain your normal schedule while still treating your addiction, so there is a lot of responsibility and hard work that has to be put into this kind of treatment. Having family and friends who support you when you leave the facility can make the recovery process much easier.

You have to stay committed and work harder when undergoing outpatient treatment because you have the freedom to make decisions once you’re off campus. If you’re committed to the process, you’ll know where to turn for the support you need.
