Chinmaya Mission of San Antonio was founded in the year 2017 on the grounds of San Antonio’s Mother Temple, as an abbey for learning and spiritual growth. The center was established as a result of the joint vision of Swami Shivatmananda, the resident Acharya (monk) along with Drs. Ramkrishna and Kamala Rao. Their goal was to develop a center for Vedanta studies accessible to both children and adults of the greater San Antonio community. The center, which is dedicated to spiritual growth, is graced by Sharadamba the goddess of ultimate knowledge (Bhramavidya). Our center, which houses Sharadamba and Shivatmananda Swamiji, also is the location of weekly Satsangs and BalaVihar programs.

CMSA offers a very well established structured program for the growth of individuals from all backgrounds, as part of the larger Chinmaya Mission organization whose purpose is spreading the teachings contained in Vedas and Upanishads.

Our mission is to build a sense of community and provide empowerment for adults with special needs through connection, meaningful experiences, spiritual growth, and fulfilling work.

The Southwind Fields programs are based on the Community Strong concept that provides adults with learning differences the opportunity to lead meaningful, impactful lives.

Working alongside one another in Community Impact Teams, our Locals (program members) can enter the mission field in a way that not only helps them find fulfillment but also works towards the greater good, benefiting non-profits working to make a difference in our city.

In both the Southwind Day Program and the Southwind Fields Tiny House program, Locals are offered the opportunity to be contracted Southwind Fields employees, being hired onto Local Work Teams, earning a steady paycheck while being active participants in an employment setting of their choosing within our organization.

We conduct and fund medical research on the causation, prevention, early diagnosis, and early treatment of cancer.

We also operate community outreach programs, including transportation for underserved patients.

Ministering to the formerly incarcerated was conceived in the heart of our Founder, John E. Mickel, Jr. After serving and driving hundreds of miles with the New Creation Christian Fellowship Prison Ministry team, he was troubled that there was not anything to keep men and women from returning to prison. The Lord begin to trouble him about doing something about it. He came up with a plan he and his wife, typed it out and presented it to his leaders and they blessed it. After this, he began to gather like-minded team members to help carry this plan out.

On March 26, 2013, John and Tiffany Mickel, founded Transforming Lives Through H.O.P.E. in their home. Founding members include Pearl Conyers, Carol Lee, Gayle King, Joe Howard, Edwin Gorham and Arthur Sanderson. From this gathering, the TLT H.O.P.E. team emerged and organized a successful outreach program for the formerly incarcerated.

Betty Elam Brauner is the founder and president of the Brauner Foundation Inc. She was a special consultant to the  "America at Worship" series, a Faith and Values program that aired on the Hallmark Channel. She was on the Board of Trustees of the National Interfaith Cable Coaltition, Inc., and is an original trustee.

Currently, she is fully committed to the Brauner Foundation and its ultimate goal of allowing anyone in need of assistance, in any way shape or form, an opportunity to reach their goals.

TruLight127 Ministries is a vocal advocate for foster children. We want to be the voice for the voiceless and hope for the hopeless.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which is contracted with and receives funding from the Department of Family and Protective Services for the purpose of licensing foster families and placing children in licensed homes.

We want to provide children with an environment that is full of love, nurture, support and structure. Thus, preventing them from becoming a statistic of hopelessness. We seek to do this by:

• supporting them with tangible services to meet their real needs
• empowering them with the knowledge and self-esteem they need to pursue their dreams

Our program of supportive services adds a community component to our mission of foster placement.
