We are an active but small faith community with a nearly 70 year history in Southeast SA. We have a legacy campus that not only includes a 150 plus sanctuary, but a gym, daycare, field and classrooms. In 2009 our congregation became an open and welcoming congregation to the LGBTQ community.
Our gym is used by hundreds of children weekly. We support the Crestholme Presbyterian Food Pantry and clothing closet. We host a daily hot meal satellite Senior Meal program for lunch for the city of SA. We are an emergency shelter for LGBTQ youth. We are active in the SA Sponsoring community organizing project. We have a monthly arts and spirituality gathering. We have an annual "Trunk or Treat" community event on the last Sunday of October with free food and carnival rides.
Good Shepherd is a spiritual community that celebrates the
gifts of God that empower us to engage in the struggles of life,
to care for each other, and to serve Christ where we work and
live. Good Shepherd is a Reconciling-in-Christ congregation.
We therefore respond to the vision to which God has called
us-to love all without condition and proclaim this good news.
We welcome in full participation people of all ages, ethnic
backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities,
educational backgrounds, economic conditions and differing
abilities to join in community to honor God and be of service
to all people.
