Alamo Premier Mental Health (APMH) provides personalized, high-quality care in Mental Health. Our experience enables us to offer effective outpatient, individualized psychiatric care. We treat several mental health disorders and provide a safe, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive environment for all patients. If you struggle with day-to-day life and/or are challenged with debilitating psychological symptoms, we are here to help.

Our Treatment:

We listen to your concerns and customize a treatment plan that suits you and your lifestyle. The ultimate aim is to help you become aware of your inner strengths and enable you to lead a fuller, more active life.

To this extent, we help our patients develop skills and strategies to self-manage their condition(s) while incorporating therapy, medications, and holistic and recovery-oriented/wellness approaches.

Our Patient Promise:

We treat you with integrity and respect in an environment where you feel safe and heard. The goal is to treat any symptoms to remission whenever possible, using the least amount of medication to achieve this goal.

Telepsychiatry:

Telemedicine is the process of providing health care from a distance through technology, often using videoconferencing. Alamo Premier mental health delivers this service via a secured HIPAA-compliant audio/visual software platforms.

Telepsychiatry provides an interaction between the practitioner and the patient similar to coming into the office for medication management and therapy but instead, you will be looking at the practitioner from the computer screen. Telepsychiatry is suitable for people of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. Research indicates that telepsychiatry is just as effective as an in-person treatment, and it may even be preferable for some people.

Medication Management:

Medication management services are considered to follow up appointments to the Initial Evaluation. We do not rush these appointments and spend 20-30 minutes with each client to discuss the progress of their treatment, how they are feeling, and to discuss any concerns they have. Medications are an important part of effective treatment for many mental health conditions. The decision to start or to continue psychiatric medications is not one to be taken lightly. Our approach to psychopharmacology (or "medication management") is designed to respect your individuality and to acknowledge the complexity of this intervention.

Pharmacogenetic testing, also called DNA Drug Sensitivity Testing, is the testing of certain genes to determine how individuals might react to specific medications. With insight derived from pharmacogenetic testing, healthcare providers may decrease the need for "trial-and-error" dosing and might substantially reduce the risk of Adverse Drug Events (ADEs). Several factors go into choosing which medications may support a diagnosis, such as age and weight.

Although these medications are commonly prescribed each person is unique and may respond differently. Pharmacogenetic testing can offer insight to the prescribing provider as to why a patient has failed multiple medications or if medication doses need to be adjusted to avoid drug-to-drug interactions. The test is non-invasive and performed in the office. All insurance may not cover this service and the cost will be the responsibility of the patient.
