Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (Government / Indigenous )

Ysleta del Sur Pueblo is a Puebloan Native American tribal entity in the Ysleta section of El Paso, Texas. Its members are Southern Tiwa people who had been displaced from Spanish New Mexico in 1680-1681 during the Pueblo Revolt against the Spaniards. The people and language are called Tigua.

Native Pathways serves low income, unemployed or underemployed Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The program is responsible for assisting Native American participants to prepare for and obtain high quality or career-based employment opportunities that will result in increased family income and financial security.

To meet its goals, Native Pathways has established long-term relationships and collaborations with various job-training providers such as vocational and educational institutions, employer partners, regional workforce development boards, and various job development or ancillary agencies.

To be eligible for this program you must:

  • Be a member of a Federally Recognized Tribe and
  • Reside within Service Area (any of 122 West Texas counties) and
  • Be unemployed, underemployed (earning a wage below your skillset or working part-time but desiring full-time employment), low-income, or seeking job training assistance
