Family Service Association offers numerous professional counseling services, including Individual, Couples, Family, Group, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Consultations.
We also provide specialty educational groups such as Anger Management and Domestic Violence Prevention to help maintain personal wellness. Services are offered locally in the San Antonio metropolitan area and our rural locations. The benefits are provided through a combination of at-home and office-based visits. Our licensed counselors are available on days, evenings, Saturdays, and by special appointment.
Our counseling professionals provide services that include working with children, youth, families, and seniors. Our team has many specialized skills to address a wide range of counseling needs successfully. Services are offered for both short and long-term depending on individual needs. Every divorce will affect the kids involved. How they react depends on their age, personality, and the separation and divorce process circumstances. KidShare is a program that helps families nurture and protect the precious relationship between parents and their children in exceptional circumstances.
When encounters between estranged parents create an atmosphere of tension, anger, and fear, children suffer emotional and even physical consequences. KidShare creates a safe environment where children may be transferred from one parent to another without the parents ever coming in contact. KidShare is a neutral setting that enables parents and children to spend quality time together and build strong relationships while protecting the children from emotional damage or possible physical harm.
Our KidShare services include:
- Neutral and safe settings for estranged parents to exchange children for visitation.
- Court-ordered, supervised settings to protect children when visiting non-custodial parents.
- Support groups for children in divorced and divorcing families.
- They are helping Children Cope With Divorce seminars.
- Counseling for custodial and non-custodial parents.
- Counseling for children in divorced and divorcing families.
- Parent education classes or workshops.
- Therapeutic supervision to families where trained therapists help build a positive bond between parent and child.
We also offer Group Supervised Visitation designed for parents of infants, toddlers, and young children who must visit with their children under supervision.
Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment, a cost-effective means for parents to visit with their young children, and the opportunity for parents to learn positive child-rearing behaviors from each other and allow children of like ages to interact in a safe and healthy environment.

Family Service recognizes the increased need for available family and individual counseling, parenting education, youth prevention education, and other human services resources in the Uvalde area. To meet this increased need, the Uvalde Walmart has offered their vacant clinic space to Family Service, and the company has also provided a $250,000 grant supporting comprehensive mental health services for the Uvalde community.
The provided clinic space is located at 3100 E Main St in the Uvalde Walmart building. Family Service, which is deeply embedded in the Uvalde community, has provided mental health and other support to the community since 2000 and will continue to provide those services.

If anyone in the surrounding areas wishes to support our efforts, we invite them to donate to us online. All proceeds given in support of Uvalde will go back to providing long-term counseling and healing to the community.

Our Parenting Education program provides confidential, non-judgmental support services focusing on parenting strengths, growth and development of children, establishing nurturing routines, and guiding children's behavior.
The weekly parent education classes use a hands-on curriculum with a concurrent children's program, educational groups, follow-up services, and networking activities. The goal is to ensure children are kindergarten-ready and children have a safe, nurturing home.
