Online and Virtual Assistance

Methodist Healthcare Ministries provides practical support to help parents and guardians learn parenting skills so they will be more confident and more competent leaders within their families.

Using an evidence-informed curriculum and led by a parenting coordinator, Meld brings together parents who have similar parenting needs to educate parents on health and safety, child guidance and development, family management, personal development, and other topics related to successful parenting.

Meld stems from the belief that parents can, and do: learn from each other; give one another support; need to be free to make informed decisions about their families and can cooperate in groups while maintaining their individuality.

Meld groups meet once a week for two hours at various locations around San Antonio. Group participants are eligible to attend a free annual field trip.

There are three Meld programs, each geared toward the needs of the parents within the group.

  • Meld Young Families for parents ages 13 to 25
  • Meld Growing Families for parents ages 26 and older, grandparents raising grandchildren, or other family members who take an active role in the parenting of children
  • Meld Special Needs group, designed specifically for parents or caregivers raising children living with a wide range of illnesses and disabilities

A complimentary meal and child care are provided during group sessions.

Transportation assistance is available.

English, Spanish and bilingual groups are available.
