The Center administers up to two years of rental assistance to applicants who are actively receiving treatment in CHCS programs and need rental assistance.
TBRA is a contract funded by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
To take advantage of the Supported Housing Programs you must meet these qualifications:
- be a current adult mental health consumer with The Center for Health Care Services Outpatient Clinics. (CHCS offers services for mental health disorders and substance use challenges.)
- have verifiable income
- be verifiably homeless by HUD definition (an individual or family with a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings, including a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, airport, or campground)
- have a valid government-issued I.D., birth certificate, and Social Security card

The Integrated Wellness Clinic offers an integrated approach to health care services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness and mental illness.
Individuals receive psychiatric services, primary care services, nursing services, case management, and rehabilitative services.
The MVPN offers free and confidential support groups for veterans, soldiers, and family members.
We also provide opportunities for veterans and families to find support through MVPN social events and volunteer opportunities and act as a guide to community resources through peer support services.

The Center assists active duty, retired, and veteran service members with The Military Veteran Peer Network Project. In addition to integrated health services, we train and team you with a "Battle Buddy," a veteran who provides peer-to-peer role support.
The Center and MVPN also work with the Texas Veteran Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery Project (TVJDTR), training law enforcement on effective crisis intervention strategies when encountering a veteran experiencing the effects of mental illness.

A partnership with the SAPD Mental Health Unit that pairs clinicians with officers to respond to individuals with Mental Health needs who frequently use 911 and other emergency resources.
Formerly known as LOC-5, CTS is an adult behavioral health outpatient program for individuals who recently experienced a crisis episode and need intensive care management services.
People experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis can often benefit from a detoxification program and stabilization unit rather than a busy emergency room. Josephine Recovery Center—a 16-bed therapeutic facility open 24/7—offers a safe, effective alternative for Bexar County adults recovering from a behavioral health crisis.
Josephine Recovery Center (JRC) provides a safe environment staffed at all times by psychiatric nurses, skilled crisis therapists, and counselors. If participants are willing to engage in activities and treatment geared toward recovery, JRC can provide an effective alternative to emergency room care.
A multi-agency and multidisciplinary team organized to provide comprehensive care coordination aimed at reducing the reliance on emergency services by the most acute individuals in Bexar County.

SMART is a multidisciplinary team, including the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department, Acadia Ambulance, STRAC and CHCS, and includes 2 licensed Master’s level mental health professionals, a care manager, Sheriff’s deputy, and paramedic.
The goal of the program is to provide appropriate de-escalation and triage, and reduce incarceration or emergency and inpatient services by providing ongoing engagement.
Activities to help intellectually disabled individuals become more independent in daily and personal skills.
Adult Day Care provides meals, medical care, medication supervision, transportation, social and leisure activities, and personal care services.
Provides children and young adults with disabilities a place to go during school holidays and summer.

Being mentally healthy in childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones, learning healthy social skills, and how to cope when problems arise. When there is a concern that a child might not be meeting these milestones, The Center offers an array of services that can help.
Our goal is to strengthen and support families by providing services for an array of issues, including, sadness or depression, fear or anxiety, persistent nightmares, low self-esteem, social isolation, harming self or others, behavioral problems, academic problems, running away, and truancy, school bullying, parenting support, child abuse/assault, divorce, grief/loss and a history of trauma.
Children’s mental health treatment is for Bexar County youth ages 3 – 17 with a DSM-V Diagnosis, and includes the following services:
- skills training
- counseling
- medication training and support
- psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring
- family partner support
A team of Qualified Mental Health Professionals provides clinical crisis assessment, stabilization, and referrals for hospitalization or other appropriate mental health services for Bexar County residents experiencing significant mental health conditions.
Any child living in Bexar County can receive crisis services — they do not have to be a CHCS client.

Though every child learns at a different pace, sometimes they encounter conditions that pose developmental delays. The Center for Health Care Services ECI program provides assessment, therapy, and other assistance you need to help your baby and your family learn to navigate around the challenges.
CHCS ECI is part of a statewide program for families with children, birth to 36 months, who have exhibited symptoms of developmental delays or disabilities. Family support and specialized services help you strengthen your ability to find the resources you need to improve your child’s development through daily activities. CHCS ECI works with parents or caretakers to help you find learning opportunities within your family’s normal routines of bath time, mealtime, or playtime.
Children, birth to 36 months.
ECI includes early intervention case management, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language, caregiver education, and support services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or medical conditions leading to developmental delays, and who reside in Bexar County SAISD, ECISD, HISD, SISD, and SSISD School Districts.

SA Job Development is a supported employment program designed to assist individuals, identified as having an Opioid Use Disorder, in finding gainful employment.
The Sobering Unit is a jail diversion program designed to offer a treatment alternative in lieu of arrest to public intoxicants by providing a medically safe environment utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to engage the individual and offer direct access to treatment.
The Sobering Unit is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and no appointment is necessary.

The YES Waiver program offers home and community-based services and support to families of children or adolescents with severe emotional and/or behavioral needs. Through a family-driven, team-based approach, the YES program seeks to meet the unique needs of a child and their family by offering individualized services that focus on empowering the family’s strengths.

- family support service
- case management
- professional services and support services for children with intensive needs to prevent out-of-home placements and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations
